Meet Dr. Joey Seyforth | Physical Therapist & Online Shoulder Rehab Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Joey Seyforth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dr. Joey, how does your business help the community?
At Comeback Performance, our mission is to change the way the world understands and treats shoulder pain. Millions of people are stuck in a cycle of injections, band-aid stretches, and generic PT exercises that never address the root cause of why the shoulder hurts in the first place. We’re helping people break out of that cycle by providing a truly personalized, movement-based approach that focuses on the shoulder, neck, thoracic spine, and shoulder blade working together as a system.
Because our coaching is fully online, we’re able to help clients far beyond our local community. We work with teachers, nurses, athletes, parents, and busy professionals across the world who otherwise wouldn’t have access to high-level, shoulder-specific care. Many of them live in rural areas, have limited access to specialists, or have been stuck navigating insurance-based clinics that only provide quick, surface-level fixes.
Our impact is simple but powerful: we help people finally understand why their shoulder pain keeps coming back, and we guide them with a clear roadmap to restore confidence, strength, and long-term health. When someone can lift their child again, get back in the gym, sleep through the night, return to sports, or simply live without fear of pain, it doesn’t just change their shoulder. It changes their life. And that’s why we do what we do.

What should our readers know about your business?
Comeback Performance started with a simple idea that turned into a much bigger mission. When I first began working with clients, I kept seeing the same pattern. People were bouncing between chiropractors, PT clinics, and online videos, hoping to find an answer for their shoulder pain. Most of them were doing “all the right things” but still struggling because no one had ever taken the time to truly understand how their shoulder was moving or why it was breaking down in the first place.
That gap is what built the foundation for Comeback Performance. We focus exclusively on shoulder pain, and we use a movement based approach that looks at the entire system. We want to understand how the neck, upper back, shoulder blade, and shoulder joint work together so that when someone trains, lifts, plays sports, or simply goes through daily life, their shoulder feels strong and reliable again.
What makes us different is that everything we do is personalized. There are no cookie cutter programs. No guessing. No “try this stretch and see how it feels.” Every client goes through a detailed movement screen, gets a tailored plan, and works one on one with a specialist who guides them through each step. This level of attention is rare in healthcare, especially for people who have been in and out of clinics for years.
What I am most proud of is the trust people place in us. We have clients from all over the world who come to us after trying everything else. They are frustrated, overwhelmed, and often worried that their shoulder will never get better. Seeing those same people get back to lifting, pressing, swimming, playing with their kids, or sleeping pain free is the most rewarding part of this work.
Getting here definitely was not easy. Building an online rehab company while running assessments, coaching clients, learning marketing, creating content, hiring a team, and navigating all the mistakes that come with entrepreneurship was a long process. There were times where I questioned if I was on the right path. But each challenge forced me to get better, more focused, more disciplined, and more committed to the mission.
The biggest lesson I have learned is that real results require real understanding. Shoulder pain does not disappear because someone hands you a band or tells you to stretch more. It gets better when you assess movement, build a roadmap, and help people retrain the patterns that are holding them back.
What I want the world to know about Comeback Performance is that we stand for clarity, education, and long term solutions. We help people take ownership of their shoulder health so they can build the life and the confidence they want. For us, it is not just about fixing pain. It is about helping people get back to being themselves again.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My wife and I recently spent time in Boston and instantly fell in love with the city. If my best friend were visiting, that’s exactly where I would take them. We’d stay near the Seaport or North End so we could walk everywhere. The food alone is worth the trip. The North End has some of the best Italian food we’ve ever had, and the seafood in Boston is on another level. Fresh pasta one night, lobster rolls and chowder the next.
During the day, we’d explore the historic side of the city. Walking the Freedom Trail, checking out Beacon Hill, and wandering through the old brick streets gives you this cool blend of modern energy and deep American history. Evenings would be spent in the Seaport with great restaurants, waterfront views, and a relaxed atmosphere.
It’s the kind of city where you can eat well, learn something, see incredible sights, and just enjoy being together. Boston gave us an amazing trip, and it’s the first place I’d bring someone I wanted to show a great time.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Without question, the biggest shoutout goes to my parents and my wife, Hannah. Everything I’ve been able to build with Comeback Performance starts with the foundation they gave me. My parents instilled hard work, discipline, and resilience from a young age. They modeled what it looks like to show up every day, do things the right way, and stay committed even when the path isn’t easy. Those values are the reason I’ve had the confidence to take risks, chase big goals, and create a business that’s now helping people all over the world overcome shoulder pain.
And none of it would be possible without my wife. Hannah has supported me at every stage of this journey — the early mornings, late nights, career pivots, and the big leap into building an online shoulder rehab company. She’s always been the person reminding me of what I’m capable of, grounding me when things get overwhelming, and pushing me to grow as a leader and a person. Her belief in me is what allowed me to believe in myself, and her support has been the backbone of this entire mission.
So while my name might be on the business, the strength behind Comeback Performance comes directly from them. Everything I am, and everything this company has become, is because of the love, values, and belief they poured into me.
