We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Donaldson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dylan, how do you think about risk?
Risk is an essential foundational component of any business, especially for an entrepreneur. Entering into any new business or even a new job can seem and feel risky. We should never allow risk to dictate the direction we should take any given project, task or business. But we must be ready to take the right risks at the right time to achieve greater success than one could achieve making ‘safe’ decisions.

Understanding and analyzing all potential opportunities, even seemingly risky ones, is a great way for a person to develop a sense for the depth of risk versus reward that any particular opportunity may offer. Finding successful opportunities in risk can be a powerful tool for anyone in most any situation.

Taking risks has lead me to be on the forefront of an emerging and burgeoning new industry. The industry of cannabis was once considered the wild wild west and is now considered one of the largest growing markets in our economy. Not to mention all the lessons in business and people I have learned along the way, risk has been absolutely essential to the success and growth of our brand and business.

Every new product we launch, every new direction of growth of the business we take, they have all been built on and guided by the idea of risk as an opportunity. Not just risk but the idea that one could tame high risk business opportunities and turn them into highly successful and rewarding enterprises. Seeing clearly what others may see as to risky or too dangerous has brought me greater success than I could have imagined.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My wife and I started Karing Kind Dispensary in 2009. With nothing more than the goal of being our own boss and providing quality marijuana product, to our then medical consumers, we were off to see where this new industry would take us.

Over the years we have grown and expanded in many directions. We not only have a storefront where we provide amazing product and customer service, but we have our own cultivation and our own manufacturing facilities as well.

Being vertically integrated has allowed us to not only stay competitive but to develop new and amazing products unique to our brand and business. We pride ourselves on customer service and quality products at competitive prices.

Over the many challenging years we have been doing this we have learned so much and grown so much as people and leaders. We have learned not only how much we can actually achieve and overcome but how to transfer that skill set to others around us. Being a part of the character development of our team members has not only been amazing to watch but the rewards of that for the business and its success have been amazing.

We have an amazing team and business and we are proud to share that with our loyal customers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The amazing views and scenery of Boulder would be priority. Finding new places with outdoor seating for lunch and dinner each day. Looking for live music or events like festivals or arts shows.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My success could not have been achieved first and foremost without my amazing wife Danielle. We have also had a lot of support from both of our families and friends along the way.
