We had the good fortune of connecting with Elanna Belanger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elanna, what role has risk played in your life or career?
My view of risk is is that it is necessary; nothing in life is guaranteed and no growth or healing comes without some discomfort. When it comes to my career, the biggest gamble I took was to choose my authentic self and calling over comfort and conformity. After working as a technical writer for a decade, I decided to change careers. I enrolled into a Master’s degree program for mental health counseling. As a technical writer, my role was to translate complex topics into simple language and understand how things interact. I applied this expertise to learning how to best help people live meaningfully and well. Over the next three years, I dedicated myself to research and undergoing my own deep healing to find answers about how to be a happy human.

Eventually, I learned that understanding consciousness and reality was at the root of knowing true human potential. Unexpectedly, my path took a very spiritual turn. I became a Reiki Master and studied physics to understand energy and the fundamental units that make up reality. I sat with ayahuasca and took a course on psychic development to understand intuition and connection with the universe. I became a meditator and student of Dr. Joe Dispenza to learn how to become conscious and mindful, so I could be aware of the limiting beliefs I had. I studied the subconscious and became a certified Core Transformation Coach to learn how to gently and effectively change limiting beliefs. The universe guided me at every step of the way, sending synchronicities and messages to validate that I was on the right track.

Once I graduated, I had an offer to continue working at the private practice where I interned. The safe choice was accepting the stable, salaried role (especially after a year of working unpaid!). Instead, I turned it down and risked uncertain income to launch my own business from scratch. Even though my clients reported positive changes in working with me, and I enjoyed working with them, something didn’t feel right for me as a therapist. I couldn’t use all my gifts and be my fully authentic self as a psychic. I knew I wanted to teach people to connect with their Higher Selves and to guide them into being truly empowered. So I stepped away from the traditional path of a licensed therapist—a highly regulated and respected profession—and into a field that incurs skepticism. Not only did I take a financial risk to start my own business, I took a personal risk in publicly embracing being a ‘psychic.’ It required real courage to put that identity on my business card, especially coming from a background rooted in clinical psychology. I had to overcome the fear of judgment, and the fear of my professional reputation being discredited.

The lesson I learned is that authenticity is its own form of credibility. People are drawn to my energy because they instinctively can feel that I don’t only have the knowledge, I have the experience of doing this for myself. I know that we all absolutely have the power to create healthy, meaningful lives with more joy and ease than could ever be imagined. My business is still growing, but I have unwavering faith in this path that allows me to support people in raising their consciousness and opening to love.
Risk, for me, is the necessary bridge between who you are today and the highest version of yourself. It is choosing to honor the guidance of your Higher Self over the fearful advice of the ego. That is the philosophy I embody and teach to every client who comes to Awakened Heart Holistic Healing: how to move from the limitations of the mind to the unlimited potential of the heart.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I founded Awakened Heart Holistic Healing to create a space of absolute freedom—freedom for me to show up as a fully empowered psychic and healer, and freedom for my clients to access their own Higher Selves and live with unlimited potential. I wanted to be self-employed after disappointing experiences in the corporate world taught me that if I stayed, my success would always be limited by other people’s rules. My ultimate goal in starting this business is to model what it looks like to be an empowered creator and to create client independence. I want to teach people how to truly trust their inner wisdom, so they can live a life of complete well-being, making authentic and conscious choices.

My business is a unique practice that moves beyond the limitations of traditional mental health models to facilitate deep, lasting change that is led by Your Higher Self. I offer Psychic Therapy—a blend of clinical, trauma-informed knowledge, spiritual guidance, and holistic modalities. Unlike traditional coaching or therapy, my sessions are not driven by a medical diagnosis, correcting symptoms, or reliving past trauma. We always begin by connecting with the client’s Higher Self. This allows us to bypass the conscious mind’s limitations and biases, immediately focusing on the root cause of the client’s challenges and their greatest untapped strengths.
I prioritize understanding consciousness, the nature of reality, and the client’s innate power. This allows for rapid, transformative change, often utilizing modalities like Core Transformation and reiki to gently reprogram negative beliefs and release blocked energy.

I also partner with Reclamation Tattoo to do energy healing and Higher Self readings for people getting a tattoo. This is very niche and hard to find other tattoo artists partnering with healers! It decreases pain and anxiety, promotes faster healing for the tattoo, and provides additional clarity and meaning to beautiful artwork on the body.

Getting here was a journey of alignment, not ease. Like I mentioned in my other answer, the greatest hurdle was the transition from the rigid clinical structure to spiritual freedom. The challenge was having to educate others, and even myself, on the legitimacy of this blended approach. I had to let go of the need for external validation. I overcame this by fiercely committing to integrity and trusting that what I am doing is best for myself and my clients. I ensure my business is trauma-informed, ethical, and grounded in clinical understanding, but always directed by Spirit. The profound, positive results my clients have reported has helped to validate that this type of quantum healing is the most powerfully transformative.

The most profound lesson I’ve learned are that fear shows up in many ways, but the perfect answers and path to well-being are always inside of us. I realized that procrastination, lack of clarity, and doubt are all forms of fear. For months, I talked about creating content for social media and I made videos, only to hem and haw about every detail. Finally, I recognized that waiting for everything to be “perfect” is just another form of self-sabotage, and if I waited any longer, it was never going to happen. So I am most excited about getting over perfectionism and launching my YouTube channel. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and experience about consciousness and reality with others. This is a time of rapid transformation for the entire planet, and I am grateful to be able to offer stability through greater understanding of what is happening and how to remain sovereign and loving during chaotic times.

I want the world to know that deep healing is possible without having to relive your deepest pain. You do not need to be labeled, fixed, or diagnosed to achieve radical transformation. My brand, Awakened Heart, stands for the radical belief that you are already whole, and your heart holds the key to your most meaningful, authentic life. I’m here to show you how to unlock it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a matter of fact, my best friend did just visit the area! I dropped her and her boyfriend off at the airport this morning. Number one most important item on the itinerary – you can’t visit Colorado without taking in the scenery and going hiking! I took them hiking in Golden Gate Canyon State Park to see the golden aspens and beauty of the mountains. We also visited Four Mile Historic Park during an SFCD free day. It’s a great time to visit the park and take a tour of the historic homestead, watch a blacksmith forging metal, and say hello to the farm animals. I live in Centennial, so we explored some of the best options for activities and dining. We ate at Hong Kong Station (best Chinese in Denver!), played intense laser tag at CO Battle Zones, walked along the trails in DTC, and played Forbidden Bingo at the Tailgate Tavern in Parker.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is to all authors! Thank you for writing. Books have always been my best teacher. It is true that a reader lives a thousand lives. I believe that reading helped me to develop empathy and understanding for others, even if I haven’t shared their unique experience. Spirit has led me to the right book at the right time, helping me to find light and knowledge from many teachers when I most need it.
