We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth and Ryan Herring and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth and Ryan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Being my own boss building something for us. Not building something for someone else. To be independent and stable.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
So we own a video game store and by no means was it easy. We specialize is people and relationships with people I think that’s what sets us apart. Proud that we grew this from pretty much nothing to a 4000 sq ft shop and a online presence. We got here with a lot of sacrifice, believing in each other and hard work, risk, sacrifice. It was not easy it was a hard road and times sure we wanted to throw in the towel but we are happy we stuck it out. Running a business really shows you what you can do and accomplish with maximum effort. Definitely not easy we learned a lot. We learned it’s a good idea to trust a little more and that what ever you think it will take whether it’s time, money, dedication it will actually take much more than you allotted. We want everyone to know our story as we feel it might inspire someone to give their dreams a try. So here it goes, we started all of this with some games i.had and 400 dollars that we posted a ad on Craigslist to buy video games. A gentlemen responded and we bought a bunch of nes games from him. We then resold the games through eBay and other sources and made some profit. We kept buying games and finding new ways to find what we were looking for . We then did sales out of our garage for awhile and picked up scrap metal to pay the bills and buy more inventory. After about a year we were able to go to the mile hi flea market where we would rent spaces each weekend and sell there for a year then moved the operation to a permanent b spot in the flea market where we were for years until we got the opportunity for a small 900 sq ft space in the greeley mall we were in that spot for a little over a year and a half then moved to the 4000 square foot space we occupy today and built a website on top of that.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Let’s see that a tough one. But definitely have to go to casabonita for a dinner. Maybe monterrey house in arvada as well. Colorado Springs we would go there as so many amazing locations to check out there. Elitches would also be on the short list. We would go see a concert in red rocks a baseball game at colors field or a broncos game at mile high stadium.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My awesome and beautiful wife Beth first and foremost! She is the rock and is a great person and definitely brings out the best in people! Also my friend Turner he has helped grow it in the last year to where it is now.
