We had the good fortune of connecting with Empress and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Empress, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The initiative began with the belief that sharing our life journeys without fear is essential, as it allows us to learn from one another’s experiences.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others is my authenticity and my dedication to giving a voice to those who might otherwise remain unheard. I take great pride in being alive, continually overcoming obstacles, and always seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. My professional journey has been marked by perseverance and a relentless focus on my goals. I have learned that while it is beautiful to have a dream, it is equally important to have a plan.

My brand represents authenticity, unity, self-discovery, and love, encouraging people to embrace their true selves.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As someone who enjoys adventure, I would plan an exciting itinerary for our time together. We would start with a hot air balloon ride to experience breathtaking views. Another day, we would dine at Welton Street Cafe, one of Denver’s top Black-owned restaurants. If our visit is in July, attending the Winter Park Jazz Festival would be a must. We would also spend a day at Elitch Gardens and allocate the remaining time in Colorado Springs to explore the Garden of the Gods, and Cave of the Winds, and challenge ourselves with the Manitou Springs Incline. We would conclude our trip with stimulating discussions of Queendom TalkQ and enjoy some drinks.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Acknowledgment goes to the following for their significant contributions to this journey: the Choppin It With Shellie Podcast, Mile High Tumblers 5280, Agapi Petra, Ozell Williams Jr., Bryant & RaQ from Bryant of New York Hair Salon (formerly known as radio stations Jammin’ 101.5 & Flo 107.1), and my Big Mama Prettie K Carter, who is no longer with us. Their support and influence have been instrumental.
