We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Abraham and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Erica, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Initially, we thought that we would start our own chiropractic practice to be able to be our own bosses. But, with it being mid-pandemic, we were afraid to take on the overhead of a clinic with the potential of being shut down again. We decided to start out mobile with the intent that we would someday open up a clinic. As we started out, though, we started to realize a few things. First, there are very few chiropractors who offer mobile services in our area. Everyone owns a clinic. Mobile is a service that stands out. Second, there are several demographics that benefit from mobile chiropractic care, including the busy parents, the busy entrepreneurs, and those with disabilities. There weren’t a ton of options in the realm of convenient and easily accessible services for them. Third, when you go into a patient’s home, you get the most accurate look into their health. Health starts at home. That’s where you first learn your healthy (or unhealthy) behaviors. When I can see your environment, I can deduce a lot of factors that may be playing a role in your health. I also get to see the dynamics of family interactions, which can also play a role in your overall health. We truly started to see the benefit of mobile care and decided that we would never transition into a brick-and-mortar clinic. The final realization that we had was that there are quite a few other types of providers who offer mobile care, but there isn’t a company that offers multiple services under one “roof”. That’s where we decided to grow. We have since added a mobile massage therapist and a mobile personal trainer to our team and it’s been a great addition to the services we provide.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Axon Health started as a mobile chiropractic practice, but has since expanded to include mobile massage therapy and mobile personal training. In today’s world, practicing self-care and taking care of your pain can be a hard thing to work into your schedule. When your provider comes to you, it can make your life a little bit easier. We are very proud to have won and placed in Best of the Springs this year in three separate categories: Best In-Home Care Provider (Gold), Best Massage Therapist (Silver), and Best Holistic Pain Management (Bronze).
Getting to where we are today has not been easy. A big obstacle we’ve had to get over is increasing awareness that mobile health services even exist. Many people still subscribe to the traditional care model where they have to go commute to an office, sit in a waiting room (likely past their original appointment time), and then commute home, taking up a large chunk of time. They don’t have to do that, and getting people to know about this option has been a bigger hurdle than we had realized. Luckily, our patients and supporters have appreciated the service so much that they have helped us spread the word about this option. In the world of Zocdoc and Better Help, convenient health services are beginning to gain traction. But what happens when you’re looking for a provider that can’t treat you virtually? That’s where mobile care comes in.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d start with the main attractions: Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, and downtown. Then, we’d head to some of our favorite food places: King Chef Diner for breakfast and Paravicini’s for dinner.
We’d also probably stop at our favorite bookstore, Tattered Cover, for a good book and a drink.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dr. Jennifer Hawkins who owns and operates On-Site Medical Care in Colorado Springs. She’s been a huge supporter of our practice and been a person I can lean on when it comes to all things business.
