Meet Erin Meyer | Health Coach, Food Rescue Consultant, Activist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Meyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
For over eight years, I worked in food security and sustainability, directing food rescue programs and food pantries. The work was deeply meaningful, but the weight of its challenges—eco-anxiety, the pandemic, and a traumatic event—ultimately led to burnout and a health crisis. It was a turning point. Through self-accountability, family support, and love, I was able to rebuild my well-being, which ultimately inspired my career shift into health coaching.
Now, I see work-life balance as essential, not just for myself but for anyone in high-impact roles. It’s not about achieving a perfect split between work and personal life, but about creating a sustainable rhythm that allows us to thrive. Balance is an ongoing process of awareness and adjustment, ensuring that we can continue to do the work we love without sacrificing our health and happiness.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am a board-certified health coach with a background in food rescue and sustainability. Through science-backed research, tools, and mindfulness I support activists, helpers, and professionals reach their health and career goals while avoiding burnout, thriving and becoming more effective.
I worked for more than eight years creating and coordinating food rescue programs and food pantries. It led to extreme burnout and a health crisis which then led me to the decision to move back to Colorado to focus on my health. After nursing myself back to health with the support of friends, family and my great dog, I decided I wanted to help others directly who were facing similiar issues. I got board certified as a health coach and started Deep Health Coaching.
I want people to know that it is ok to ask for help. I am where I am today because I asked for the help of my family and friends during those hard times. (Thanks to them by the way). I also want people to know, as a health coach, my job is not to tell you what to do or force you into anything. I come from a client-centered perspective and I firmly believe that you already have the answers, you know what to do and how to do it to achieve your goals; my job is just to pull that out of you and hold you accountable.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Go to Red Rocks to see a show (duh!).
Water Course and City ‘o City are some great food options.
However, my favorite place in the world is Bear Creek Lake Park. It is such a gem.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My current and future coaching clients! Sometimes I think they help me and teach me more than I help them. They are wise, strong and caring. One of my very first clients, who I coach to this day, talked about living their “highest light”. I like the phrase and have been using it to make some essential life decisions for myself lately. It also gives my other clients a pause when I ask, “Are you living your highest light?” or “Would this action help you live your highest light?”
So dear reader, are you living your highest light?
