We had the good fortune of connecting with Eva Elizabeth Hadad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eva, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The journey to building a career in photography has been filled with bumps and uncertainty along the way. I fell in love with photography in high school where I learned how to use a manual film camera. I spent all my free time developing film and exposing paper in the dark room. I decided to continue my photography work at the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York which was one of the leading photography programs in the country but also came with a high private school price tag. To started to work at the campus day care in between classes and became more and more concerned with how I was going to survive with student loans on a photography salary. I then changed my major to education, transferred schools and eventually completed a masters degree in education with a minor in photography. Photography fell to the side as a hobby for many years as I was a teacher and started a family. It wasn’t until my youngest son was born with a rare genetic life limiting condition that I turned back to photography heavily as a form of therapy for myself. I felt a need to create and document my own kids but especially my youngest son knowing that his life would look different and our time with him would be limited. By this time I had left my teaching career to stay home as a caregiver for him and felt a strong pull to start documenting other families as a creative outlet from the day to day with my own son. The fact that I had been given a gift of knowing that our time would be short with our son was not lost on me – I knew I NEEDED to document every moment but what about all the families that don’t know ahead of time. Photographs become their most valuable over time when they are all we have to hold onto our memories. That was when Eva Elizabeth Photography was created to document families and moments to be cherished for generations.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My photography focuses on giving families both the traditional look and smile photographs as well as documenting the connection, joy and real life moments of where your family is at this point in time. I want to make your entire experience from booking your photo session to creating custom art work as stress free as possible – as a mother of 3 I know how hard it is just to get it on the calendar and everyone to the location with clothing on so I’ll take care of everything else! My sessions feel like an evening exploring a new place as a family. I will help everyone feel comfortable with some direction to explore, play and snuggle together and I will also step back and just the right moments to document your natural connection and moments together. All my sessions include both digital images and also printing credit so I know everyone who works with me will also have professionally printed tangible keepsake from their session. I provide print credit with guidance on the highest quality hand picked art work so everyone can choose what works best for their family whether that is wall art, an album or specialty keepsakes.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Being a photographer I spend a lot of time scouting beautiful locations throughout the Denver area so going on day adventures all over the front range is always a good way to spend my free days! Some of my favorite spots to do some hiking at Mt. Falcon, South Valley or Red Rocks. Downtown I love to catch a Rockies or Avalanche game, grab some food near Union Station and walk around Rino and make sure we head over the Millennium Bridge!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To my son Rylan Hadad and all the KAND warriors.
