We had the good fortune of connecting with Evan Mudgett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Evan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have my own business and I also don’t have my own business. Not long after I got my real estate license, I made the decision to join a team. It’s been 5 years, and I haven’t looked back! Real estate agents are famous for being stressed out and spread way too thin, no quality of life, and the wearers of all the hats imaginable. That didn’t and still doesn’t sound great to me, and I am very happy to be on a wonderful team.

What should our readers know about your business?
I would say what sets our business apart is quite simple. We are ultimately committed to our clients’ success more than anything else. So in real estate, that means a robust and high-octane marketing package, aggressive customer service, high quality communication, and consistently going above and beyond for our clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Montrose is a recreation paradise, and it’d be hard to fit everything in a week, or even a month. Skiing lift 9 at Telluride and doing apres at High Pie Pizza, hiking backcountry lines in Silverton and/or doing a competitive trail running event in the area, exploring the Black Canyon National Park, hiking in the Ouray/Ridgway/Telluride areas (some of the best hiking anywhere in the country), catching a round of golf at the Bridges and Cobble Creek, running the beautiful and endless trail system of the Gunnison Gorge, floating the reservoir and Uncompahgre River on a paddle board, the list goes on!

Crispy and delicious carne asada tacos at Tacos and Beer (Generic name – incredible food!). Having a beer and chicken sandwich at Pomona Brewing Company or pizza and beer at Colorado Boy Brewery in Downtown Montrose.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to thank my Great Grandfather (who I never met), who was a real estate developer in the midwest and was known to be the hardest working, most generous person you’d ever meet. I am grateful for his influence in my family over the decades, which hopefully has trickled down to me.

Also, my bosses and friends Ian and Diana Atha, who started this real estate business here over 15 years ago. Without them, I would be nowhere near where I am today. We like to think that we are self-made and autonomous, that everything we have is a result of our own effort. There is a level of truth to that, but in a more ultimate reality, I am riding on the ripple effects of hard work and devotion that occurred long before my time.

Most of all, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ deserves all the ‘shout out’ possible, bringing me from death to life daily!
