We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenny Verrochi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jenny, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
The pivotal decision that played a crucial role in my success was wholeheartedly pursuing my passion and having the courage to persist, even in the face of setbacks and failed plans. Throughout my journey, I’ve remained steadfast in doing what I love, and by unwaveringly following my North Star, I’ve cultivated dream partnerships and a thriving community. Consistency, resilience, gratitude, and kindness have been the guiding forces that propelled me to my current position.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Achieving my current position has been a challenging yet incredibly rewarding journey. Growing up in a family of entrepreneurs, I inherently followed the entrepreneurial path that shaped my identity. My success is a culmination of unwavering consistency, resilience in the face of challenges, the courage to take bold steps, and the unwavering support from my friends, family, and community.
To me, success goes beyond mere accomplishments; it’s about having the freedom to live where I choose and engage in what I am passionate about every day, surrounded by like-minded individuals. Entrepreneurship has taught me the value of taking substantial risks to pursue one’s aspirations. While the path may not always be easy, the journey is undeniably worthwhile. The lessons learned, the growth experienced, and the fulfillment derived from pursuing my dreams make every challenge an integral part of the rewarding entrepreneurial adventure.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would start off the morning by making my friend a mug of Buck Wild Coffee (that my parents roasted). We’d then venture to the nearby natural hot springs in Carbondale for a relaxing soak. The day would unfold with a memorable horseback riding experience on one of the ranches I’m involved with, followed by an exhilarating mountain bike ride. To cap off the day, we’d enjoy a refreshing beer at one of the charming spots in downtown Carbondale.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the countless individuals who have played an instrumental role in bringing Boot Tan Fest to life, making it the world’s largest ski and snowboard festival for women and femmes. This achievement is a testament to the unwavering support of each person who has rallied behind our cause.
A special shoutout goes to Bluebird Backcountry, the first resort to embrace and support this dream. Even after their doors closed, the continued success of Boot Tan Fest wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity and support of Sunlight Mountain Resort. They opened not only their doors and slopes but also extended helping hands, and I am forever grateful for their pivotal role in turning this wild idea into reality.
I must acknowledge the incredible team that stands alongside me. Lauren Echo, our graphic designer, has been a constant support since day one, and Lisa Slagle, the talent behind the camera, has provided unwavering encouragement to continue this dream post the closure of Bluebird Backcountry. My deepest thanks also extend to the artists, musicians, and creatives who contribute their talents, making the festival truly special. Boot Tan Fest is a collective effort, and each individual involved deserves recognition and appreciation.
