We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Gallardo Jr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frank, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind our journey has been our passion for photography. I [Frank} started to fall in love with this profession in high school while taking a photography class; however, this class also made me realized that the root of it all had come from my dad. Growing up he was always capturing every moment whether it was my sister’s birthday party or a cousins’ Quinceañera. From that moment on I’ve always carried the vision of making memories last!
While for my fiancé Andrea she has had a similar passion for photography that is also rooted from her dad. She took this passion and acted upon it once she joined the yearbook in high school. Both of us viewed photography as a hobby but we wanted to take it a step further. When the pandemic hit, we had a lot of time to explore our creative sides. I started to take more photos of family, friends, and even events. Andrea on the other hand randomly came up with the idea of buying a vintage camper and turning it into a photo booth. In the mist of all the craziness this idea seemed so far-fetched. As time went on, we kept coming back to it and put all our effort into finding a camper. We bought a 1960 Shasta trailer and completely renovated it in a matter of four months. We had a lot of obstacles along the way like walls coming down on us to rain pouring down on our new walls. Our passion and the support of our family kept us going and continues to keep us more motivated to make our dreams into reality.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
From the start I didn’t want to just label myself as a photographer that just focused on one vision. I wanted Frankscreation to be a brand that offered, portraits, prints, merchandise, and photo booths. My end goal is to own a studio that people can come in and take their newborn photos upstairs while others take their cars into the open space studio. The partnership that I have with Andrea has made Frankscreation so much stronger and I honestly cannot wait to keep expending our business.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A weekend getaway would be ideal for someone visiting the area. We can take a road trip to Aspen and on the way there we can enjoy the views as well as one of my favorite pizza spots Beau-jos. The next morning, we would get up early to take a hike to Maroon Bells and spend most of the day there enjoying the view as well as the beautiful reflection. The rest of the day we would just hang out and have a good time.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All of this would have not been possible without the unconditional support of my fiancé Andrea. She has pushed me in so many ways to become a better person, boyfriend, but overall, a better photographer. I constantly expressed to her my vision for Frankscreation and she was able to create a plan to get there with her endless to do lists!
