We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabe Ramsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabe, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business was never in the plans, it just kind of happened. When covid hit I missed traveling and the comfort it brought me. I knew I was not the only one feeling this way, so I looked for something I could use for comfort on a day to day basis. That is where my love for candles began. By starting my own candle company, I have been able to give others comfort through fragrance while giving back proceeds to the national parks I love traveling to.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I make each candle with all natural soy wax, essential oil infused fragrance oils, and cotton wicks. I then place each candle in an aluminum vessel. Making a candle is honestly just the beginning of a customers experience. I package everything in eco friendly materials and include a hand written note with each order. Candle making has become a sort of therapy for me. Whether I am having a good or bad day, candles are an outlet for me.

When creating Petrichor Candle Studio, I wanted to create a product that could bring comfort to others while leaving little impact on the world. Each material we use is eco friendly and a portion of each purchase is donated to The National Park Foundation.

Creating a business has been an adventure for me. It has not been easy, but it has been a lot of fun. I have learned to be patient with myself and accept that plans do not always go accordingly.

As a small business I want others to know that me and my brand exist! I love having the opportunity to bring comfort into someone’s home.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh where to begin? I love living in Colorado and we have many favorite spots. We would have to visit Blue Pan Pizza, Yolandas Tacos, and Poke City. Can you tell we like to eat? After we stuffed ourselves full, we would go on a favorite hike in the Conifer area. We take many of our guests to the Breckenridge area as well. It is one of my favorite spots.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate this shoutout to my husband, Colin. He is very supportive of me and my business.
