We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabrielle Gould and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabrielle, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
My jewelry craft is completely hand built, fabricated. Art Jewelry is hand-built and fabricated—I like to think of it as miniature sculpture, only wearable!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I consider myself a modern day hunter-gatherer. My hand-built jewelry is inspired by my natural surroundings here along the coastal waterways of the southeastern US. Frequent hikes along the Atlantic shore turns up shells, bits of coral and fossilized shark teeth~ all materials for my work. And, not just materials, but also inspiration as I depict the animals also in my surroundings. Reflecting upon my artistic career over the years I am so grateful that I was able to make a living at my creative endeavors. My goal is to highlight the beauty in an easily overlooked natural wonder.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to my city- St. Augustine, FL.. The nation’s oldest city! In addition to historical sights, St Augustine has shopping, outdoor cafes, eateries, nightlife, plus the added bonus of the beautiful beaches along the north Atlantic Ocean.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my shoutout to my husband, Luis Etchenique…always by my side.
