We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Uthe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
Unreasonable Fitness is my small nutrition and training online coaching business for women. I love spinning something that could be perceived as a negative (Unreasonable) and turning into something positive. To be unreasonable is to be headstrong and fearless about your goals. Be unreasonable with setting your boundaries, be unreasonably strong for ‘a woman’ and be unreasonably dedicated. I see nothing wrong in making yourself and your health a priority but also making fitness fit into your own schedule and lifestyle.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I coach women who are just starting out in their fitness journeys and those who may have let themselves slip on the priority list. We focus on building strength and confidence but also bettering the relationship we have with food and the diet culture surrounding it. I’m all about teaching, I WANT to teach my way out of a job because I can’t coach you forever. In a sea of quick fixes and instant gratification, I want to set women up to succeed long term. It’s tough when social media is full of ‘skinny teas’ ‘juice cleanses’ and so much more-we have to go back to the basics and realize food is fuel! I also want to help facilitate workouts that fit into any schedule and anywhere. I get it! Being a mom to a toddler I don’t always have the luxury of 2 hour workouts or even going to the gym, but I want people to know it isn’t necessary and we can work with what we got!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m new to Denver and the surrounding area, so this is a tough one! I’d say we would have to hit the Emerald Lake hike in Rocky National State Park and visit the Stanley Hotel on our way for the historic beauty and creepy ghost stories!
Golden is a beautiful little town where the Golden Rock Shop is full of good people and even better vibes. We’d have to check out the latest crystals and then go next door to the Golden Mine Cupcakes (because you never pass up on a cupcake!)
One of my favorite coffee shops is The Laughing Goat in downtown Boulder. They make a mean cold brew and tasty treats that’s perfect for a mid day snack.
And if you can get in a reservation for Hanging Lake or Maroon Bells – camping and hiking those are at the top of my list!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout-out my husband for being my rock and providing me the opportunity to be able to start and run my own business. He believed in me when at times, I didn’t believe in myself. I’d also like to shoutout my daughter; she’s the reason I changed from being a bodybuilding coach to coaching women. I want you to be as strong and fearless in this life and grow to be an unreasonable woman. She forced me to grow up and become the role model she needs.
