We had the good fortune of connecting with George Heiman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi George, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
Follow your passion. Instead Use your god given skill set and chase opportunities, somewhere along the way you will find your passion.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
As a 3rd generation tradesmen in the HVAC field it is in my DNA to fix things that are broken. Green Home Services was established in 2021 and strives to be the premiere residential HVAC company in Boulder County. We are a service company that specializes in heating and air conditioning solutions, as well as air quality solutions. This company was founded during arguably one of the worst times to start a business during the covid 19 pandemic however we have exploded and continue to grow. We began to serve customers that needed repair work, and as business progressed we have also started to equip ourselves with the proper knowledge, tools, and skills to fill the rapidly growing need for clean air solutions in order to be a multi dimensional service provider.
HVAC is very seasonal work and i learned that the hard way early on. After a very successful summer and fall 2021 serving the hot and cold climate of Colorado, work began to slow to a dangerous pace. With my back against the wall and unsure of the future I decided to make lemonade out of lemons. When the communities of Lafayette, Louisville, and Superior were devastated by the fires that took the homes of thousands. I decided to take up arms and invest in state of the art Air quality testing equipment and offered free testing to residents who had not lost their homes but had high hopes to return to a normal life as soon as possible. We tested as many homes as people asked not turning down a single request all at no charge to the residents. This gesture opened up many opportunities for new work and cliental as many of these people desperately needed contractors to help with fire and smoke damage.
The story above is a perfect example of what an entrepreneur is. Someone who isn’t easily shaken by adversity, who can pivot on a blink of an eye based on circumstances. Murphy’s law is one of my favorite things to reference because it is so relevant. When disaster strikes in your business or your community how you react to it is what makes the difference rather than the actual event itself.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a Longmont native, i like to think i’m a seasoned veteran on the local attractions. Colorado is such a seasonal area its hard to say, however if it was summer i would start the morning with a early rise and hit the trails for a hike at chataqua park. One of Boulders staples but make sure you get there early to find parking. After a brisk 2 hour hike make sure you take a second to catch your breath the altitude is no joke if you’re not a local. Stop by “The Sink” on your way down the hill and refuel with a sink burger and ice cold beer. If you’re lucky enough to be in Longmont on a saturday afternoon then stop by main street for a great time at the Art walk, 5 blocks of vendors, live music, food trucks, and local influencers. Finish the night off with an amazing dinner at local restaurant Flavor Of India, my personal favorite is chicken tikka masala and if you can handle the heat order it hot.
The other must see for every tourist is a friday or saturday evening ball game at Coors field. Catch the light rail from suburbs to union station and a quick 5 minute walk downtown will get you to 20th and blake the intersection for home base at Coors Field. While our team is usually losing, you wont care the atmosphere is unlike anything else, not a frown in sight and make sure you head to the rooftop to catch a orange and blue Broncos sunset over the Rocky mountains to the west of downtown.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

Also to my dad for being extremely hard on me. This world is rough and if you’re gonna make it you’ve got to be tough.
