We had the good fortune of connecting with Gerbeys Harris and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gerbeys, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Clean Living Maids was founded to address a gap in the market for reliable and thorough cleaning services. As a family, we struggled to find a local company that was responsive and met our specific cleaning needs. This experience led to the idea of creating our own business to provide top-quality cleaning services. Our goal is to serve the community by offering efficient, personalized cleaning solutions tailored to each client’s unique situation. We aim to highlight the importance of a clean and organized space, and the peace of mind it brings.

As a busy mom of three, juggling a full-time corporate job, I understand firsthand the value of a clean home. It brings me peace of mind and helps me maintain balance. There’s significant research to support this, too. A Stanford University study found that clean, uncluttered spaces can enhance brain function, boost focus, reduce stress, and improve overall mental well-being. On the other hand, cluttered environments can contribute to distraction and cognitive overload.

Clean Living Maids is here to help busy families and business owners achieve peace of mind with a clean, organized space. We understand the challenges of balancing work, family, and daily responsibilities, and our goal is to provide top-notch cleaning services that allow you to focus on what matters most. Whether at home or in the office, we ensure your environment is spotless, so you can enjoy a stress-free, productive atmosphere.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey has certainly not been easy… do you have 3 days so we can dive in! Haha
All jokes aside, my professional background is in nursing, and I spent many years working as an ICU nurse. I have a deep passion for the nursing profession, as it offers countless opportunities to make a difference and truly find meaning in the work you do. Working as a bedside nurse during the COVID-19 pandemic was an experience I’ll never forget—it was both humbling and incredibly challenging. Being in the ICU during such a terrifying time, while pregnant and having other children at home, pushed me to my limits. It was a period that helped me become more resilient than I ever thought possible. I had to learn to adapt quickly and embrace change because there was simply no other choice.

Having experienced motherhood at a young age, attending college as a single mom, and eventually building a fulfilling life, I’ve learned that perseverance and community are key to navigating life’s challenges. This understanding is central to the mission of Clean Living Maids—creating clean, peaceful spaces to help care for and support our community. It’s all about giving back and helping others find comfort and balance in their environment, just as I’ve done throughout my journey.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
That’s a great question! Living in Castle Rock, we are conveniently located between Denver and Colorado Springs. La Loma is must for amazing margaritas and incredible views. Courtyard Social has the best beet hummus in town. And the Cake Company is also a must-visit for the most delicious cupcakes!
In Colorado Springs to explore Garden of the Gods and Manitou Springs. Both locations are stunning and perfect for capturing the true essence of Colorado through outdoor photos. I’m also a big fan of supporting local breweries. This is such a fun way to experience the local craft/art scene.

In Denver, we tend to follow the classic tourist route: Union Station, Milk Market, and McGregor Square. You can even get some great shots of the Rockies stadium while you’re there! If the weather’s nice, catching a Rockies game is always a fun way to spend the day. For dinner, we love Guard and Grace and Urban Farmer, and for a good coffee fix, Coffee Sarap in RiNo is a favorite. I also enjoy walking around RiNo and the Highlands to grab a quick bite or even an ice cream treat. We’re big fans of Red Rocks, Golden and Boulder too.

For hikes, our local favorites are Devil’s Head and St. Mary’s Glacier. Both offer gorgeous views and are relatively easy hikes. I actually snowshoed St. Mary’s Glacier when I was just one month postpartum, with my baby in tow—and it was absolutely beautiful. Colorado really has so much to offer in terms of outdoor adventures and local experiences!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my parents for always showing me that good things come to those who put themselves out there and for always encouraging me to keep pushing and doing more. Also, my husband for going along with all my crazy ideas!
