Meet Hanna Lambert | student and business owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hanna Lambert and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hanna, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have thought about having and starting my own business for a longer time period and finally realized it in March 2021. I´m a very creative person and for me personally I always liked designing my own cards. First, I did it for myself just for fun I designed cards for my wall and then for my family or friends for example when a birthday came up or a getting well card for a sick friend. It became more and more I did cards for anniversaries, baby showers or mother´s day. I never really liked the cards in the stores they just weren’t my style. It was always too much glitter or sparkle and I like more simple cards with a couple details. So I thought why not designing my own cards and sell them. This way I can always print a card for myself when a birthday or something else is coming up and I can sell cards for others and make them happy.

What should our readers know about your business?
I own a small business called ByHannaLambert. I sell individual cards on Instagram @byhannalambert and on Etsy @byhannalambert. I first announced my business in March 2021 and it´s been a bit over a year now that I started my shop. I’ve focused on managing my social media, completing and delivering orders, and handling all the finances. I am most proud of the uniqueness of my shop. I create custom designs and orders. I love to make other people happy and to hear when they’ve made other people happy with my cards.
At the beginning it was kind of hard to get people´s attention. The first orders I had were from friends and family. Then I started to do more marketing and advertising for Instagram and Etsy and tried to spread everything more which fortunately worked out and I got more and more orders. I´ve learned a lot over the year weather it´s financial or if it´s worth the effort from the process to printing the cards for the volume of orders. It´s been a very good journey last Christmas and this Easter was a big boom for me. I had more orders on Etsy and got the opportunity last Fall to sell my cards in a public store.
My plan for the future is definitely to create more designs and sell my cards in more public stores. I started designing and selling screensavers for Phones and IPads and I would like to go international.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would do a lot of hikes together and show her Denver Downtown. We would see a game at Coors Field or the Ball Arena. Other days to Meow Wolf and for a concert at Red Rocks. We would go out for drinks and food and hang with my friends.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely my parents and friends! They are very big supporters and I owe it to them for all the support they’ve given me. My Mom is always reposting my posts in her Instagram or WhatsApp story and telling friends about my business and the cards and I really appreciate it. My friends and family bought a lot of my cards for special events or for their wall which was a really good start for me and my business.
