We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Browning and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I worked under a couple of extremely talented, kind, and hard working florists who taught me so much. Working under them planted the seed of my love to create with floral design, but through the years another seed was planted. I grew a deep desire to be creating my own designs. Working under another florist you’re bringing their vision and design inspiration to life. I had so many ideas of things that I wanted to try out and see if I could bring the vision in my head to life with flowers, and I knew the only way I could do this freely and without restraint was branching off on my own.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a floral designer. The intricate design and beauty of flowers enchants me, and the work of arranging them is a complete delight. In my design I aim to abandon the contained and manufactured norm of floral design, and instead arrange them in new and fun ways that reflects the manner in which they grow in nature. I like to present the flowers so they sing together as a whole, but dance independently as your eye makes its way to each individual bloom. There truly is beauty to be found everywhere, and I have the joy to present it in floral design. I am still learning and evolving every day as a designer, but it’s been 5 years of long hours and incredible teachers to get me to the place that I’m at. I’ve learned that practice is essential to growth, and the most growth happens with practice outside of the pressure to deliver – just me and a bucket of blooms that have nowhere to be and no one but myself to impress.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in one of the most beautiful placed in Colorado and going into the mountains gives so much life. Most days would be filled with a paper sack lunch and a beautiful mountain scene. We would head up to yankee boy basin if it was late summer to enjoy the Rocky Mountains and incredible wildflower scene. The most fun I’ve ever had was hiking up to blue lakes and spending the day fishing the upper lakes and searching high and low for the coolest wildflower in all existence: Elephants Head (look it up. It’s amazing). If it was the fall we would be found in the Cimarron Mountains fly fishing and eating chili around the campfire under the insane amount of stars visible up there. My favorite breakfast spot is Kate’s Place in ridgeway… I’ve never gotten anything I didn’t like! The Black Canyon is a classic and must see if you’re not a local. Sunsets there are beautiful.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The growth that I’ve made since opening a year ago is substantially due to the support, help, and encouragement of my family. I have a line of business owners and entrepreneurs in my family and to have their support, wisdom, and guidance along the way has been imperative to the health of my business. I also owe a hug thank you to both Rachel of Dahlia Floral, and Courtlynn of Lovelily Flowers in ATX who I had the immense privilege of working under and learning from.
