Hi Hillari, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea to start Sprk Jewelry was a no brainer for me. I came across the permanent jewelry trend on social media and instantly became obsessed. I visited my sister in southern California soon after and we decided to check it out together. The experience of getting matching permanent best friend bracelets was unforgettable and it was then that I knew I wanted to bring this trend to my hometown so I could give others this same experience!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Sprk Permanent Jewelry offers 14k gold filled and sterling silver chains with optional add on connectors of the same quality. I am very selective because I only want to offer the very best while keeping my prices at a point where there’s something for everyone! When you visit a Sprk Jewelry pop up event, you are in total control of how your piece of jewelry turns out! My favorite part of the process is getting to know my customers and the stories behind why they choose the pieces that they do.

I decided to start Sprk Jewelry as permanent jewelry was growing in popularity so I don’t feel like there was a whole lot of information on the ins and outs of how to begin. I spent any free time I had researching and absorbing any and all information I could find. The permanent jewelry community has been very welcoming and friendly and there’s been several instances where I’ve taken my questions to other permanent jewelry artists who have been more than happy to offer tips and tricks. The process of starting Sprk Jewelry has been trial and error and it’s been so rewarding bringing it to what it is today!

One thing I’d like the world to know about me and my brand is that while it’s so fun to create a unique piece of jewelry, the part I value most is the experience and memories I get to create for my customers whether it be a mom and daughter, best friends, a couple in love or someone that wants to signify a promise, goal or special event for themselves. I’m so lucky to be a part of that!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many fun things to do in the Gunnison area! I would take my best friend to Back Country Cafe for brunch with the most fun staff who makes you feel like family. Paddle boarding at any of the lakes in the area is my favorite thing to do! Wild flower hikes in Crested Butte, shopping at Monkey Goats Boutique, Tango and Toggery Elevated on Main Street in Gunnison as well as all the fun shops on Elk Ave in Crested Butte. Dinner and drinks on the patio at 5 B’s BBQ, Less than an hour from Gunnison is Waunita Hot Springs it’s an amazing place to relax!
