Meet Hunter Larson | Marketing Specialist & Tennis Addict

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hunter Larson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hunter, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work life balance is a slippery slope when it comes to running your own business. At least for me, I got into entrepreneurship and running my own show because I wanted to be free of a 9-5 job. However, as most business owners can attest to. Starting a business is a very grueling process that requires constant attention, learning, failing, rejection, days you want to quit, days you’re through the moon, upset clients, and more. I just don’t think it’s possible to have a normal work-life-balance when you’re in the beginning stages of your business. Yes, as you get more established, you can begin to live your life more freely, but in the beginning if you’re not working you thinking about work and everything that still needs to get done.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business came to fruition when I realized that there are hundreds of generic marketing agencies that just help anyone who will pay them. I found an untapped market and positioned myself to help that market specifically. To get where I am today, it has taken working 10-14 hour days on weekdays and weekends. This has been the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, not physically but mentally. Being able to control my mind to avoid negative thoughts and focus on the goal and the dream has been a struggle at times. However, it’s the best decision I have ever made. Now, I know that I have the skills to be on my own, and I have built up the resilience of my mind to a point where I know I can tackle any future challenges.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to Fort Collins the first place that I would have to take them is The Exchange which is a beautiful outdoor space with lots of restaurants and bars all sharing the same outdoor space. We’d obviously take a walk down college in Old Town a few times. Fort Collins is full of all kinds of amazing local coffee shops and breweries. We’d have to tour New Belgium. Have a coffee at Lima Coffee Roasters and then spend 2-3 days just going to each amazing brewery to taste amazing beer and stop at all the amazing local food trucks.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my friend Gary from college. He is the one that sparked the fire inside of me to go all in on doing something on my own. He founded the entrepreneurship club at the University of Missouri and got me to start attending on a regular basis where I began hearing from very successful alumni that went on to start their own companies. Their stories resonated with me because they were creating real value in the world and making a difference. I made the decision my sophomore year of college that I would always have my eyes open for ways I could create value and make a difference.
I also a huge deal of credit to my amazing mentor Daniel Beltran. He has been with me by my side throughout my journey and motivates me to keep going every single day.

Honestly, it’s a virtual business so I don’t really have that many pictures.
