We had the good fortune of connecting with Alondra Loya-Trevizo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alondra, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?
The most important principles and values reliability and client experience. Assurance that my clients can rely on me from the moment an idea is turned into a design, all the way to the quality delivered in our exclusive service. At the heart of Balloon Empyre are the unforgettable moments we are able to create for another human being on their special day. Is what has differentiated us from other companies.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
This industry has taught me that I need to continuously learn and grow as a professional in all aspects of the business. There isn’t a single day where I think I’ve got all the answers. So no, I wouldn’t say this is has been easy. Especially during the pandemic that nobody was really prepared for in the last year. The events industry has been affected tremendously by all the new restrictions and with it all the businesses, venues, artists, vendors, employees and their families. That has been the biggest challange so for. We really had to reinvent ourselves to stay in business but in the midst of it all, we found ourselves being the connection between so many people who otherwise were distanced. We were able to being no-contact deliveries to so many homes to let people know there is someone out there thinking of you! We would place our 8ft tall balloon bouquets in front of the door, knock and step back. The reaction and expression of gratitude and excitement on their faces was the best feeling. It helped bring people together, give them hope and showed so much love all over our beautiful Denver area. Yes, we cried too a few times. The passion I have for the art is truly what sets my work apart from others. You can imitate a design but creativity and compassion come from within.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
What I like about Colorado is that we have a little bit of everything in this beautiful state. When I do have friends visit, we usually opt for a ride to the mountains or to check out some good food spots. Central City makes you feel like you are far from the city yet such a short drive. I also love Idaho Springs especially their Beau Jo’s ! Red Rocks us timeless and the Mother Cabrini Shrine brings me such peace every time I dare walk 373 stairs to the top of the mountain. If we wanted to have a couple drinks and listen to good music, I,’d definitely take them to Raices Brewing Company. Now if we are feeling comfort food we’d head over to Maria Empanada. I recently discovered Sharetea in Westminster, we would stop there for some fruity boba tea. Once we get back to whatever “normal”will look like, Broncos & Rockies games would be on the list. A show at DPAC, any of the amazing museums in Denver, the Zoo and the Aquarium. Honestly, there are too many places to name. Just driving around, you will find a new gem worth the ride.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to my clients, they inspire me to continue creating! I can’t find just one name. It really is a matter of a support system & community. I would love to give a shoutout to each and ever single person in my life who has pushed and inspired me. Even those who criticized me & helped make me a better person unknowingly. My parent’s and family first and foremost. A friend who in the first days of this idea turned into reality believed in me. Thank you Xochitlt Ramirez! Shout out also to my friends Liz & Alex, Marisa, Iliana, Irma, Jessica, Lorena, Amy, Dots, Nelly, Juliette, Rachael, Raquel and all my social media followers. This would not be possible without you guys, I am forever grateful. There is a movie that really resonates with me and the way I see life. It’s called The Pursuit of Happyness with Will Smith. “Don’t ever let someone tell you, you can’t do something. Not even me. You got a dream, you got to protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they want to tell you you can’t do it. You want something, go get it. Period.”
