We had the good fortune of connecting with Ian Atha and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ian, what do you attribute your success to?
To answer this question, I think we need to start with defining what success exactly is and what that looks like. For me personally, I would put success in several categories, including my marriage, my relationship with God, my relationship with my kids, success with investing and finances, and of course success in the actual business. When all these are congruent, I feel successful, and more importantly, happy and balanced.

Further, if I want to narrow success down to the business category, I would say that our success is directly linked to our clients success. Therefore, putting clients first and helping them succeed and giving them advice and wisdom to succeed (whether that advice results in a sale or purchase nor not) ultimately ends up in higher profits more families served,and happy people which is a cyclical success factor

What should our readers know about your business?
So business is fairly simple. We help people buy, sell and invest in real estate and beyond that just help people make really good educated decisions in the real estate process.  We ourselves are real estate investors, and not just in real estate but in other markets and asset classes as well. Therefore, we have a passion for financial stewardship and wealth creation. So hopefully that experience and passion translates into really good advice for our clients when making decisions about real property. We’re looking at real estate as an inflation resistant asset class, a hedge against inflation. In times like these, where projected return in the stock market is dismal, real estate is an awesome  very low risk alternative. Especially when talking about short term rental or long-term rental.
What sets our real estate business apart are two different things. Number one, we run a team model, so you’re not just getting a single agent who is wearing 15 different hats. You’re essentially getting a specialist who is specifically trained and allocated for your needs. And with a team, you’re being supported by an entire back-end team along, with proven systems that really really help the process streamline and make it smooth for the consumer. Second we were the only team in the valley that employs an Expert Marketing Package for our client’s listings. Our marketing includes very robust geographic targeting, video marketing, paired with an actual marketing strategy specific to the client’s property type. We also run the marketing in-house. My background is initially from the dot-com industry in the late 90s’ and marketing is a passion of ours and we have a ton of fun doing it. We also feel like it is an absolute responsibility to provide our clients the maximum exposure of their property to get the most money, through great marketing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A day at Silverton Mountain in February for a day of snowboard mountaineering and epic face shots. Maybe a Heli drop? Followed by a late afternoon soak in the Town of Ouray Hot Springs and dinner at the Brick House in Ouray!

My wife Diana Atha, for building the business, for teaching me so much about investing and real estate, and for just being my best friend. Our director of operations, Jessica Branning, for battling with me through the years of everyday business fun and trauma. Evan for being a great friend and business partner. And Jake Mott for making mortgage loans a reality for our clients through thick and thin.
