Meet Ian Zinner | Freelance photographer, videographer, and drone pilot

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ian Zinner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ian, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I was born in Vancouver, British Columbia and raised outside of Toronto, ON. When I was in high school, one of my main hobbies was mountain biking and I started documenting my friends and I on our bikes. That progressed into working for the school yearbook. As it came time to move onto university, I decided to major in photography, and well…the rest if history.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Photography, and videography, is such a broad and wild field of work. Which can be very overwhelming, but awesome at the same time as it offers so many different styles and approaches. I like to focus on making my style of work as natural and authentic as possible. I have found keeping things as close to “normal” as possible creates the most genuine and personal final product as possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a tough one, since weather in the mountains is always changing and unpredictable. But just going with the flow and being able to adapt is important for enjoying life.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Part of what makes my line of work so fun is getting to meet all sorts of different people, and animals, on different shoots. Without them, none of these shoots would be possible, so thank you to all the athletes and talent that have helped bring my work to life over the years.
