We had the good fortune of connecting with $istah Moon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi $istah Moon, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I really wanted to start a business that would allow me to complete heal, and not just take care of specific symptoms for a short amount of time .

When I was 20 , I was diagnosed with severe seasonal allergies, and of course prescribed a whole bunch of over the counter medication. This left me lethargic, having constant headaches, and left me with some unfortunate gut issues as well.

I wanted the same relief I would get from the over the counter meds , but in a more natural way . So I started researching herbs that clear uncomfortable amounts of mucus in the body as well as inflammation and compression in the sinus area.

After testing out a couple formulas, I finally developed the perfect one that cleared up my allergies and also shared it with some friends. Once it was proven to work, my Cold&Flu tea was born , and I continued to make more teas that would side in healing’ other ailments of the body., and that’s when MoonCreates Holistic Living & Educating Company was created.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe herbalism is an art form , because of the different things you can create to specifically promote and execute the idea of healing one’s temple.

I think it has and continues to be an amazing experience to witness the joy I can give people by having them feel revitalized, and renewed by healing themselves internally with something that grows out of the earth.

I believe my business is unique because I sell specific teas and other natural products, to target and eventually eliminate specific ailments people are suffering with on a daily basis.

Even though running a business, and or sharing your creativeness with others isn’t always easy, it is definitely inspiring to see the changes you can help implement into someone’s life with what you specifically create.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am specifically based out of Washington, DC and there is so much to do here in the Nations Capital.

I personally would love to check out the different Smithsonian Museums, which are all free. My favorites are the African American History Museum, Air & Space Museum, and the Portrait Gallery. Then I would definitely try to catch a Nationals or Wizards game ( depending on what season you’re in town . Definitely go to one of my favorite open mic spots Called SpitDat DC downtown . Go to one of the great restaurants for happy hour maybe the point DC on the wharf. Then on the weekend go to Ust,
H st or Adams Morgan for a great night on the town( all spots are great for lounges or club vibes) and then end the week off with a brunch date ( specifically at Park on 14th) or if you want to set up a picnic yourself, go to Malcom X park for some much needed greenery, a drum circle, and sometime different vendors from the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes!

Special shout out to my local herb store ; Blue Nile Botanicals for always having the great advice, books , and herbs needed to create my products . This specific place has been a great resource for me personally and professionally.
