We had the good fortune of connecting with Jadyn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jadyn, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
I think when you are making the decision to give up or keep pursuing what you are doing, it’s important to consider what this particular thing offers you and offers the world. If what you are doing brings you joy and can benefit others, I’d recommend to keep pursuing it. I truly believe that no one can do what you do, the way that you do it. Your ideas and natural talent is a gift that can give yourself fulfillment and bring a fresh perspective to others.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My artwork is a unique blend of surrealism, pop art, and ligne claire. I think what sets my artwork apart from others is my bold use of color, linework and varying subject matter. I became an artist professionally when I was approached by different people interested in purchasing my artwork and having custom art made. This is when I realized that there is a market for what I do, and that I really enjoy bringing others’ creative ideas to life. I wouldn’t say that it has always been easy translating my hobby into a profession, but being able to connect with people, understand their vision, and bring their ideas to life has come very naturally to me as I really enjoy working with people and challenging my craft. The hardest part of it has been understanding that there is an ebb and flow to this field; that you won’t always have steady business. However, it is important to remember that the right opportunities will come to you if you stay humble and keep working hard at what you do. Something I want the world to take away from myself and my story is to practice your inner work and spend time with yourself to understand your true passion and what brings you joy. Once you find your passion, run with it because you never know where it could take you.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting Colorado, I would take her to a concert at Red Rocks. It is a natural Amphitheatre in the mountains and, in my opinion, is the most magical place that you could experience a concert. I would also take her to Meow Wolf in Denver, which is an interactive art museum that 1,930 artists came together to create. It is an extremely immersive experience and is very enjoyable for people of all walks of life. I would also take her to Boulder to do some shopping, have a bite to eat and go for a hike.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would say that the reason I am an artist and I am where I’m at today is because of my dad. For my entire life, he has worked as an artist using various mediums including airbrush, signage, murals and auto graphics. Growing up, I would spend most of my time in his art studio with him, and he would encourage me to paint and draw anything that came to mind. When I would show him my work, he would critique my art by teaching me what I did well and where I could improve. This became a huge passion in my life, and every day I would strive to improve my skill. This is how I expressed myself and processed life events, which translated into my adulthood and is something I am still very passionate about and enjoy doing to this day.
