Meet Jaime Albino | Family Man, Lover of Coffee and The Great Outdoors

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaime Albino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaime, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
Regarding my favorite quote, “The cave you fear to enter, holds the treasure you seek.”
Joseph Campbell
Hearing this quote ended up changing my life. You see, I was raised in a very traditional, blue collar home, where other than holding down a 9-5 job, nothing else really mattered. I was always different from my friends, and everyone else in my family, in that I wanted so much MORE. I knew that I wouldn’t be happy just working a 9-5. I wanted to play sports, travel, hike in the mountains, and ride bikes, all things I had watched on tv. So when I came across this quote, it really resonated, it made me realize that I had been living a “comfortable” and “playing it safe” life. Up until that point, I was afraid to make any major moves.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I work for a major airline and have been doing so for the past 21 years; which I am extremely proud of. I’ve worked in numerous cities throughout the U.S., all with different climates ranging from100+ heat, to -0 temperatures. Because I work outdoors, my “office” view is the landscape/views that my current city presents me with; I couldn’t imagine working in an office with no windows or fresh air. Denver, my current city and the city I consider home, is the best city I have lived in thus far, it has everything I could ever want, all 4 seasons, mountains, trails, lakes, creeks, and forests.
Being surrounded by nature, I am able to do the things I am passionate about, hiking, biking, and driving in and/or around nature. This city, the surrounding nature and the vibe, has inspired me to pursue my dream.
My brand, BEHAPPYCo, was 34 years in the making.
As an 18yr old freshman in college, a Micro-Economics professor asked everyone in the class to stand up. He then asked a question; what do you want to be/do when you graduate. The answers were all as you would expect, a COO, CFO, CEO, ….etc.
I’m hearing all of these, seemly well thought out plans for the future, and got really nervous. I’m 18, and had no clue what I wanted to do. I had a hard enough time trying to understand what Micro Economics was….Lol
Secondly, everyone else seemed to know exactly what they wanted, I was terrified. When it was my turn, I stated my name – Jaime, my year – Freshman, and my major – business.
I’ll never ever forget what I did and said next; I took a deep breathe and said, When I graduate, I just want to BE HAPPY!
EVERYONE in class stared at me, while complete silence fell over the room…..CRICKETS, I was so embarrassed.
What saved me was the super eager student that was bursting to let everyone know what they wanted to do when they graduated.
Fast forward to current day, I can honestly say I am truly BLESSED and HAPPY.
Thus, “BE HAPPYCo” was born.
My beautiful daughter summed it up better than I ever could, “WHY BE ANYTHING ELSE, WHEN YOU CAN JUST BE HAPPY”
Our vision is to inspire people to connect with nature and explore the great outdoors. We believe that spending time outside is good for the mind, body, and spirit,

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh wow, there are so many places to go and see. I don’t really like to create itineraries when I get visitors, I like to just go with the flow and see where the day takes us.
With that said, I’d have to give my friend, what I believe is the “Rocky Mountain” experience. That would mean, hitting up the little, but very different local/and not so local, towns. The vibe is really relaxed and chill anywhere you go, I mean, you’re surrounded by Mother Nature. People are really friendly and chill.
The itinerary will look something like this:
Day 1: Maybe a little morning coffee at FIKA, in Parker. Then head out to Lair o’ The Bear Park, Evergreen Lake, and Three Sisters Park. Followed by lunch at Brian’s Good Eats, at the Kittredge General Store…..really good burritos.
Day 2: Spend the day in, and around Boulder, and Golden.
Day 3: Take a day trip up to Vail, and definitely making a stop at Yeti’s grind for some coffee and monkey bread.
Day 4: I’d take them to check out Castlewood Canyon, while on the way to Garden of the Gods, where we’d spend the day.
Day 5; If they’re up for it, I’d take them to the mountain town of Breckenridge. I definitely hit up Danielle’s Delights, a really cool local coffee spot with great chocolate chip cookies.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So, since hearing that quote, my amazing wife of 26 yrs has supported our moves to Denver, Miami, San Diego and back to Denver, where we now call home. Being back in Colorado felt like a homecoming; I have been able to do and experience all of the things I had dreamt about as a kid. This quote continues to inspire me to grow, hence, I created my brand, behappyco.
Although the quote gave me the courage to reevaluate my life, and make changes, none is it would not have been possible without the support of my wife and my daughter. They are that pushed me into the cave……lol.
