We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Simonis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I became a Mom at a very young age, and I could remember my childhood where my parents worked tirelessly at their 9-5 jobs to support us. While I had an amazing upbringing, I knew that I wanted a career that offered me the freedom and the flexibility to be a Mom. In the same breath, I also knew that I desired a career where I could exercise my creative nature and problem solving abilities.

From a very young age I grew a love for home design, regularly found on HGTV.com playing with their DIY Home Design Software! It was only natural that once I began to pave my way in this world, I would land a career in Real Estate.

I’m now able to pair my love for creative marketing, home design, and the flexibility of a career in sales to help my local community buy and sell real estate.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I truly believe what set’s me apart from my competition are my values. Most times, Realtors motive for joining the industry is to make money, and my motivation lies beyond financial freedom. It lies in my family, leading a lifestyle that is flexible and stress free, and pursuing adventure. With these values I am able to prioritize my family and attract the ideal clients that respect that my children come first, and then my business. By leading a life that is flexible, I am able to be present for my clients needs and deliver a stress free experience. My love for travel and adventure landed me in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado, and therefore I’m able to connect with clients who are relocating to this area on a deeper understanding.

It was not easy getting where I am today. I had many struggles discovering how to market myself different from other Realtors who claim “I just love to help people”. When I started the industry, I had very little guidance and it felt like everyone was keeping their secrets to themselves. I spent countless years on old-school, cheesy marketing gimmicks that weren’t relational and gave no true picture of who I was to potential clients.

Flash forward to today, I am now 7 years in the industry, and not only is my passion helping people buy and sell homes, but it’s also helping other Real Estate Agents develop a personal brand that set’s them apart from their competition. I believe that everyone deserves a shot at real estate, as long as they know what makes them “you-nique”.

I am fortunate to have the perfect position to focus my efforts in marketing & design by collaborating with Ryan Livingston, my partner in business and life, to grow the Livingston Home Team at RE/MAX Alliance in Fort Collins. Our team is founded on the same values I had when I started the business, and combined with our love for each other and the industry, we are a force to be reckoned with.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Anytime someone visits me in Fort Collins, the first place I take them is Horsetooth Reservoir. I still remember the first time I laid eyes on that beautiful, man-made body of water nestled into the foothills of Northern Colorado. It was like I was experiencing a glimpse of what heaven looked like. I keep the photo of my first experience there as a memory, and a gentle reminder of where I’ve come from!

By some point, everyone get’s hungry and there’s truly no better place to eat out then Fort Collins! Our city has more bars & restaurants per capita than anywhere in the Unites States. The options are endless, and each space has it’s own unique flair. Whether you’re looking for whiskey & steaks or a complete vegan meal, there truly is an option for everyone.

Not to mention, the Downtown area of Fort Collins, “Old Town”, has an energy that covers you in a warm blanket. Anyone could spend hours in Old Town Fort Collins and never want to leave. It’s rich in creative energy and friendly in community. I’ve known many people that come to Fort Collins for the lifestyle, and stay because the community is so wholesome.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s without hesitation that in order to pursue a career as a Top Producing Realtor, you have to be willing to be marketed and see by others. I recall knowing at a very young age that I had a greater purpose in this world, but it felt like everyone around me had their own plan for my life. I did my best to follow their guidance by graduating high school, attending college and pursuing a career path in Marketing. My fears of paving my own path grew larger and larger, but regardless, the fear of working my life away building someone else’s business was bigger.

I decided to quit college and move states away from my family in a quest to find my purpose in this world. After not much time had passed, I lost sight of my direction and placed my passion in growing a family, but unfortunately that path resulted in a dead end of single motherhood. At first, I feared how I would support myself and my children, but quickly realize that the love for my children and my dream of being present for all of their school plays, soccer games and so on was an even greater motivator. So first and foremost, I would thank my children for being the light when the streets I’ve paved are dark.

Secondly, I would like to recognize my partner & love of my life, Ryan Livingston, for being my rock and greatest cheerleader. Without your support, mentorship and love, I would not be where I am today. I am overwhelmed with joy at the opportunity to grow The Livingston Home Team with you!
