We had the good fortune of connecting with Lori Anastos and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lori, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is that I never gave up. Being a veteran in my industry, I faced many challenges over the years. There were even times when I wanted to quit and pursue something different. Then I thought about all of the hard work I had put in to my career, and even though there were challenges, I’ve always loved what I do. So I decided that giving up was not an option. I had to push forward and overcome any challenges that were standing in my way. I am here to say I’m so glad I did, Because my career is not only what I do, it’s a big part of who I am.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a self employed nail artist. I’m a veteran of 38 years, and I love what I do.
I think that I have a very distinct style of nail art specifically marbling. I feel that this sets me apart From many other nail artists out there. I am most proud of the fact that after several years of deliberation, I have built an online course for nail artist to teach them marble nail art. I am also currently in the process of building a membership as well. Since I love teaching and mentoring, this is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time and I’m very proud that I finally took the leap!

I got to where I am now by never giving up. Since Nail art is my passion, I continued my journey of learning by doing continuing education, research, and watching lots of videos! I practice a lot even still, so I can continue to perfect my skills.

Was it easy? No. It is hard work, but not always. Though to be successful, it takes a lot of dedication and passion. So I do not regret all the work I’ve put in to get where I am.

I’m pretty good at working through challenges, mindset is a big part of that. If there’s a challenge I need to overcome, I just find a way to do it.

Some of the lessons I have learned are:
Client interaction- I think it’s really important to develop strong communication and interpersonal skills to understand my clients needs, manage their expectations, and build lasting relationships. Many of my clients I consider friends.

Creativity- Since nail art is my passion, I make it a point to continually learn innovative designs, and evolve in my nail art, so I can keep up with trends.

Business management- Over the years, I have learned skills to keep my books full, I’ve learned how to market myself, and how important investing is.

Technical skills- I have learned to perfect many aspects in the Nail industry such as acrylics, gel, sculpting, and nail art. This gives me an advantage as I can satisfy any of my clients needs or wants.

I guess I just want the world to know that I’m a very passionate nail artist who is obsessed with teaching as well as learning. I love sharing my expertise, and I have a strong desire to pass that on.
Teaching others has been rewarding and fulfilling as I help other Nail artists expand their skills and grow as professionals. I also love empowering others to develop their skills and pursue their passions. I want to make a positive impact on the nail industry.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to a few of my favorite restaurants in my area, and a little coffe house near me. We would visit at these places, as well as in my home. I would take them to a few mountain towns, such as Blackhawk, Vail and Idaho Springs. They are all beautiful places any time of year. Then we may go shopping. There are a few cute boutiques near me.
I’m more of a home body, so I wouldn’t really k ke many hot spots to visit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When I was 16, I met a girl named Kim at my boyfriend’s softball game. She was the owner of a nail salon. She was beautiful, friendly and successful. Over time, we became good friends. I wanted to be just like her, she became Somewhat of a mentor to me. I went to Nail school right out of high school and ended up working in her salon for a couple of years. She was a huge Inspiration to me In my early days of being in the nail industry. And We are still great friends to this day!
