We had the good fortune of connecting with Jane Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jane, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve been passionate about childcare since my teenage years. My early life included work as a babysitter, camp counsellor, swim team coach and Elementary school teacher. I moved into the business world and spent 25+ years away from a child related field. After having my son, I hired a nanny for his care. During the recruitment process, I was inspired to start my own nanny agency that would provide a highly professional service with a unique pricing strategy.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I feel blessed to have been born with gifts of tenacity and salesmanship. Most of my early career was in sales and sales management in the Telecom industry and success came easy. My sales performance and ability to develop close relationships with my managers allowed me to be promoted by following two senior executives to several different companies over many years. In these positions, I learn almost every aspect of running a business. During this time, my goals were mostly about winning and attaining an excellent income. I started Colorado Nanny after having my son. My priorities and life goals changed to spending as much time as possible with my son, earning a decent income and working in a more rewarding position that involved helping others. Many believe in the old adage: When you make a purchase, you get what you pay for. I’d like everyone to know that does not hold true with Colorado Nanny. When you find the right company at the right time, you can receive the best service and not pay the highest price!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a long weekend trip, I’d spend time in one of our great mountain towns and enjoy some hiking and local music festivals. My favorite time of the year is summer where I spend most of my leisure time playing golf, attending many of our free local park concerts and cocktail hour at places like Eddy V’s and Seasons 52.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutouts goes to my awesome nanny recruiters and clients. My recruiters are bright, passionate mother’s that are dedicated to providing our clients with excellent nannies. Their work over the past 21 years and counting has earned Colorado Nanny superb internet reviews and a loyal customer base. Much of our new business comes from client referrals. I’m eternally grateful to my special families that have referred so many of their friends and family to my agency!
