We had the good fortune of connecting with JAntho CHO and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi JAntho, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from Kansas City, Missouri. Growing up, it was a mix of different aspects that influenced me throughout my upbringing and helped shape me into the person I am today. Kansas City is high in crime, so it’s a lot going on in the streets. My mother was a single parent, and taught me a lot from a very early age. She put me in different classes and activities to enhance my speech and vocabulary, and also led me to learning Spanish at a very early age. I started playing basketball around age 5, and baseball around age 7. I also grew up fighting a lot, and slowly started getting introduced to more street activity through people I linked up with.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a musician, entrepreneur, and energy worker. I make psychedelic, spiritual music. I create music that is influenced and enlightened by psychedelics. I first started making music when I was in the sixth grade, and when i moved to Lee’s Summit, Missouri in seventh grade, I met up with my best friend DWadeNo2K, and we formed a group called Time is Money and we started making music together. When I was 16 I had my first psychedelic experience with LSD. Throughout the years of experimenting with psychedelics, even after graduating high school, I gained a lot knowledge about myself and the proper intended use of psychedelics and the role that they play in my music and my “CHO Movement” and how I could use my voice to reach people who are unaware of themselves in the sense of self worth, and self-actualization.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d probably go to the mall, cop some fits. To eat, I take my folks to get some Thai food, we might go to a club or two downtown.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The only shoutout I can give is to myself for not giving up on my goals, when a lot of people who I care about didn’t and don’t support me. I thank myself everyday for still believing in myself when no one did, when people labeled me for being different, and then started embracing my talents after I started getting recognized in a global scale. No one in my life has been a support system to me other than myself in the duration of my journey and career.
