We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have been a life-long artist and wanted to have a career where I could incorporate the arts in some way. I love that fashion combines all of my artistic interests and I’m able to draw on my background to provide my customers with unique garments.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a fashion designer who focuses on creating one of a kind statement pieces. I enjoy exploring materials and form to create garments that are unique. I’m in the beginning stages of my brand but I’m excited to develop it further and create another fashion line with pieces available to purchase. I’m proud of the projects I’ve had the opportunity to work on, such as designing a mini collection for HBO and AT&T celebrating the series finale of Game of Thrones. It is also very rewarding to collaborate with other creatives, such as Denali for RuPaul’s Drag Race, which allows me to push my designs into new directions. It has been an interesting experience with both success and set backs. I’ve found that as long as I don’t stop when things are difficult and instead keep creating, there are new opportunities to adapt and grow.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Studying at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago allowed me the freedom to develop as a designer and an artist. I would not have pursued fashion without the interdisciplinary education model and supportive professors that encouraged me to explore artistically and get out of my comfort zone.
