Meet Jemmi D’Amico | Resin Floral Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jemmi D’Amico and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jemmi, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
At 22, I was a junior in college, a single mom to a sweet 5-year-old girl, and my hairstyling career was taking off. Something had to give—so I left college, overwhelmed and unsure if I’d ever return. Thirteen years and two more beautiful babies later, at age 35, I made the decision to go back. I couldn’t ignore the pull—I had always wanted to become a therapist.
Then, life threw another curveball. In 2020, my marriage fell apart. It was one of the hardest seasons of my life. But with a miracle from above and a lot of therapy, we rebuilt our marriage and our family. That experience left me with one clear calling: I needed to help others do the same. I wanted to become a marriage and family therapist, because I now believe—deep in my bones—that marriage can be a beautiful, redemptive thing when people commit to the hard work of healing.
While finishing my undergraduate degree in Psychology, I found myself stuck in a required entrepreneurship class. I didn’t see the point—it had nothing to do with therapy, and I was juggling kids, a job, and school. When the professor assigned us to start a business with just $10, I emailed her, practically begging for a different project.
Two days later, I got a call from the university. My financial aid had run out—I’d maxed out my lifetime limit of FAFSA support, with two semesters left to go. Suddenly, that $10 assignment felt a little more relevant. I needed a way to fund the rest of my degree. So, reluctantly, I dove in.
That $10 project grew into something bigger than I ever imagined. I rediscovered my love for art and creation. I launched a business that allowed me to express beauty, resilience, and purpose—preserving real flowers in resin and turning them into functional art. It became not just a source of income, but a source of joy, healing, and empowerment.
Fast forward three years, and my business has grown beyond anything I imagined. I graduated debt free in May 2024 with my B.A. in Psychology. And yes—I sent a very heartfelt apology (and thank-you) email to that entrepreneurship professor. She now uses my business story to teach her class. My kids have all caught the entrepreneurial spirit, and they understand the value of hard work, risk, and believing in yourself.
Today, I’ve just moved from Colorado to Texas to pursue my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Texas State—with the goal of finishing that debt free too, thanks to the very business I once resisted.
Looking back, that one “annoying” class changed my life. It saved my degree, sparked my creativity, and set my whole family on a new path. And for that, I’m forever grateful.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve always adored flowers—but keeping them alive? That’s not my gift. That’s where my resin floral art comes in.
My work is a way to capture the beauty of nature and preserve it. I create timeless pieces that let flowers keep blossoming for years to come—long after a bouquet would fade. It started with a vision: to make a modern, feminine, and functional booth at local markets, filled with unique pieces that take your breath away. I wanted to create a business for women of all ages to indulge their love for beauty—while offering gifts and decor that are not only stunning, but also useful and affordable.
That dream came to life through my real flower resin art, especially our gorgeous wood serving boards. Each one is made with acacia wood, real dried pressed flowers, and countertop-grade epoxy, making them food-safe and durable (up to 120°F). These personalized boards are more than just charcuterie trays—they’re functional, heartfelt works of art, perfect for gifting or hosting. Truly, anything your countertop can handle, these boards can too.
This artform wasn’t easy to master. It took nine months of persistence (and plenty of costly trial and error) before I created pieces I was proud to share. The process is delicate—a single dust speck can ruin a piece that takes 2–3 days to make. Still, the challenges have taught me patience, resilience, and joy in the process.
I believe we were all born creators. As kids, we built with blocks, colored with chalk, and painted with our fingers. But somewhere along the way, many of us stopped. My art and my business have helped me rediscover that creative spark—and now I get to share it with others.
Each piece I make is a reminder that beauty, creativity, and nature can live on—long past a bloom’s final petal.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am not from Denver, Co. I am from Grand Junction, Co. I am assuming since that is where you are based, you are wanting Denver recommendations. Please let me know if you’d like Grand Junction answers! I’d be happy to give them!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This business wouldn’t be what it is today without the incredible love and support of my family.
My husband and my oldest daughter, Mikayla, have been my steady encouragers through every doubt and setback. They’ve believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself, offered honest feedback when I was unsure of my art or ideas, and taken on so many household responsibilities so I could pour my time into creating. Their sacrifices and strength have been the backbone of this journey.
My daughter Mila has been to more markets with me than anyone. She’s my little right-hand girl—always willing to help, always working hard, and always making me proud.
And then there’s my sweet 4-year-old son, who walks into my studio with the biggest smile and says, “Mom, I like your pretties.” His tiny words carry so much meaning and encouragement.
My mom and my mother-in-law were my very first customers—and they’re still my biggest cheerleaders. Their unwavering belief in me means the world.
I am endlessly thankful for my family. This dream of mine is only possible because of them.
