We had the good fortune of connecting with AIDAS ANCERAVICIUS and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi AIDAS, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I began riding mini motorcycles and scooters when I was six years old. At age nine, my parents and sponsors bought me my first dirt bike which I used to join a Lithuanian Motocross team in my country of origin. Despite the size of the dirt bike, 125cc 2 stroke old Czech Republic CZ motorcycle, it was all I needed to pursue my career and fuel my love for motorcycles. I was the youngest racer in the nation. My feet could hardly reach the ground while sitting on my new motorcycle (over a foot short from the ground).
My races began with people holding me up at the starting line and then I was all alone with the motorcycle, knowing there would be no one to help me if he fell. My only hope was the kindness of spectators and they were more than happy to assist. People fell in love with the rider and his big beautiful red machine. I won a few races but was happy as long as I finished the race.
I showed my parents, sponsors and team my drive and determination for two years, despite my many challenges and crashes. Everyone contributed towards getting me a new improved red machine, this time a 1992 Honda 85cc dirt bike. It was after receiving this new bike that I realized what the saying, “I believe I can fly” really meant. I started winning more races and held the title of national first place winner several times. My coach took me to international races in neighboring countries where I continued my stellar performance. My racing career peaked right around the time when I was turning 15 and it was at this time that I had to switch to 125cc class (Young adults).
I relocated to Colorado, USA with my parents and siblings and was unable to continue my love for racing Motocross. Despite this temporary setback, I never lost sight of my love for motorcycles. After graduating from high school and a local college where I studied small engine and motorcycle technology, I saved enough money to buy myself a Suzuki 125cc. My first job was at a local Polaris dealership but this did not stop me from being around motorcycles. Excited about the technical knowledge gained at the college, I enrolled in the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Arizona to pursue a two-year course of study. While attending the Institute I spent time riding my dirt bike in the Arizona desert and landed my second job at a motorcycle dealership. My program of study at the Motorcycle Mechanics Institute exposed me to BMW and Japanese motorcycle repair.
Love of family, motorcycles, and great riding opportunities drew me back to Colorado after my two-year stint in Phoenix. I was employed at a local multiline BMW shop as a technician. With almost a decade of experience under my belt my dream of one day owning a motorcycle shop was taking shape.
On April 3, 2017 I opened “Colorado Moto Service” now located in the heart of Denver. My goal is to provide the best care and service for all motorcycles. Come and explore the new show where we’ll take great pride servicing your machines.
In May 2021 I added a Ural dealership (Colorado Ural Motorcycles) where we sell and also service Ural Motorcycles.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My passion for Motorcycles sets me apart. For me, its more then servicing or fixing a motorcycle. The look on a rider’s face after receiving their Motorcycle from us in tiptop shape, gives me the biggest satisfaction. My goal is always to make the motorcycle happy because I know, by making the motorcycle happy, the owner will also be very satisfied and happy. It was not easy getting my business up and running and 6 years in we are still working to be where we want to be. There are daily challenges of trying to balance work and life, trying to keep my employees happy and trying to keep things running smoothly in the workplace and at home. Not only is it my goal to make motorcycles happy, but it is also my goal to keep my employees happy because I know in doing so, they are the ones working on the motorcycles, if they are happy, they will perform great work.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in the mountains, camping and taking my dirt bike and a Ural out in the woods are my escape and if I can I would do that every single weekend. for a visiting friend, I would take them out to the Suhsi Den in Denver then their week would consist of Barbeques on my deck looking out on my property and mountain views and a lot of riding and site seeing,
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Widelyne Louis, my wife without whom, non of this would be possible.
