Meet Caralyn Gutierrez | Jewelry Designer, Fashion Curator & Creative Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Caralyn Gutierrez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caralyn, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for my business Supraliminal came from a want to create a unique & fun experience through intention & captivating all of the senses. I have always been very interested in art & fashion culture, I knew always that I wanted to find a way to fit within this spectrum on my own terms. To offer something with deeper meaning & more intent. I wanted to focus on lesser understood senses that we encounter in this human experience, such as energy, expression, intuition & perception.
Something that makes each client feel good, that stands out & not just like going into any other store. I was very clear that I wanted to create the intimacy of a boutique business that provides specialized services for people that want a well curated & custom outcome, something with a little more meaning.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a jewelry designer that specializes in custom clasped & permanent jewelry pieces that are created to enhance intent, express individuality & bind the connections we have with others. I also help clients create custom curated jewelry’ stacks’ & accessories to enhance their personal style & fit it into their wardrobe to be easy & more accessible on a day to day basis. I curate fashion items & assist my clients in being more comfortable within their style spectrum to show up & feel their best. At Supraliminal we aim to set ourselves apart from the norm & really focus on the unique qualities of the individual. We offer photography packages focused on creative self portraits, branding, content creation, & portfolio development to create assets for our clients that will help them to market themselves & stand out in a unique way.
This was not easy & I think it comes down to the belief in myself, to push passed the feeling of ‘imposter syndrome’ and know that although what I offer is not traditional, it is still valid & I can meet the needs of a unique market of people that otherwise don’t feel like they fit into the box of basic societal standards.
As a brand I want to be in service & be the exception in boutique business. To positively impact the community through purpose driven effort to Live Supraliminally.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I am all about experience, I would aim to create something that was balanced enough to not be overwhelming but exploratory enough to feel like they got the full encounter with a Colorado vibe. Thankfully these days there are so many various opportunities in Colorado Springs to create a fun & memorable experience
I would do breakfast at Denver Biscuit Company to fill us up for a day of thrifting & shopping on the West Side, walking around Old Colorado City is one of my favorite past times checking out all of the art galleries & funky boutiques. We would stop off for lunch at Mother Muffs, which has been a staple in Colorado Springs since I was a kid. Great food & a laid back bar environment — they always have great live shows, live music for Sunday brunch & karaoke during the weeknight.
I would grab drinks & maybe a show at Ultra Flat Black Gallery. For an impressive dinner experience I would definitely check out The Rabbit Hole in downtown Colorado Springs, which is always a favorite spot for a great meal. For some outdoor activities I would take them to the usual spots like a small hike through Garden of the Gods & Red Rocks Canyon, something a little more strenuous exploring the different trails around Cheyenne Mountain. A stroll through the Broadmoor Hotel followed by dinner at The Golden Bee is always a favorite. I would also bring them to my studio for a permanent jewelry experience to keep the memory with a keepsake at Supraliminal.
If the weather & time allows, a drive up to Red Rocks Amphitheater for a concert would be the cherry on top to a fun Colorado experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The support of my friends has been really paramount to my success. They have all been a great sounding board to my ideas & formulating what works & what doesn’t. They have been a great resource for getting my business & services out into the community. I really appreciate the outstanding assistance from other business people in the Colorado Springs Community that have always asked how they can help me to become a better & more capable small business owner.
