We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Armstrong and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
How we think of risk is the most important part in how you are able to leverage it. The term “risk” carries a lot of negative connotations, it fires up fear and insecurity. Like other terms such as “failures” I have started using new words and empowering “risk-taking”. Instead of looking at the risks, I look at the opportunities, the possibilities. Not risk taking but opportunity making. We of course need to weigh our losses, the risk and the way I look at this is very matter of fact. We know what the potential loss is, most of us are programmed to go there first. It is our survival pattern. However, external influences create the fear we feel around potential loss, it is not who we are inherently. This leads to anxiety, indecision, stress and ultimately inaction.
Meaning, we must confront the loss upfront and decide if you would be able to let go, worst case scenario. The way I approach this is with confidence, trust and open-mindedness. I reflect on my abilities to overcome previous challenges or losses, I listen to my intuition, what is my heart and gut telling me.
We often already have the answer of whether we want to move forward with an opportunity that has been presented to us. It takes awareness and practice to trust your decisions. If you find yourself becoming more aware that you still feel very conflicted and have a difficult time making decisions or taking action, great, that just means you need to find a coach or mentor that has the experience and skills to break down those blockages.
When I first started my business, TCCREATED, a real estate transaction specialists service, I told myself I would go into it with the enthusiasm to adapt and grow, face fears, and stand up for my value. Again, this took practice, coaching, letting go, time but I also promised myself I would support me no matter what.
That’s where making time for self care, affirmations, gratitude, reflecting, and planning comes in. Filling my cup so I can always show up to new opportunities with a healthy mindset and confidence so that taking risks isn’t scary and I also have a strong awareness around what I am willing to let go for an opportunity that feels right.
If we never make opportunities for ourselves, nothing in our lives or business will ever change or grow, we will never evolve.
Two big examples in my business were raising my prices and growing the business.
Raising my prices was a “risk” I had to take to reflect inflation, the comparable value I was providing vs my competitors, as well as setting a foundation for my next goal, building a team. As TCCREATED was growing quickly and my vision had always been to have a team of Real Estate Transaction Specialists so I could oversee operations, marketing, and pursue further growth as well as new opportunities. In order to do this, I would be giving agents I had worked with and created relationships with over to a new person. There were a few things that I had to process here before taking the leap forward, knowing full and well, these were absolutely necessary for the direction I was going.
First, awareness around the task at hand and how it would affect everyone. Even though I had to make these changes it was still important to me that I had a good understanding of my clients feelings by putting myself in their shoes. I wanted to make it an easy process and providing them with a team member that will be able to provide even better support. As well as being transparent that these moves are important for the value and growth of my business.
Then I go through accepting the loss that may occur. For me this was not taken lightly, still I was confident through it. I knew I was showing up for myself, providing them more value, and I also knew that any clients who wanted me to make an exception I would have to stand my ground with and any that chose to leave because of these changes were not a good fit for what I was doing and creating for my clients. And a reminder, no matter what it was ok and I would move through it.
Lastly, I really rally around my decision internally. By providing myself all the support I need during the transitions and learning opportunity, as well as having a plan of execution to allow for the things that are out of my control go then, trusting I have the resilience to move through it and the desire to learn a new skill along with evolving as a person in business and life.
I encourage looking at risk taking as more of a journey of opportunity making! Build your foundations, listen to your intuition, put in the work, practice and always be gentle with yourself, we are all human.

What should our readers know about your business?
The first business I created, TCCREATED, is a Real Estate Transaction Specialist service. We work with Realtors to manage everything that goes along with managing their transactions. Our focus is our clients ROI by providing knowledge, skill, passion and care. Due to our experience, the systems I have created and the relationships we build allows for agents to add true value to their service as well as increasing client satisfaction, repeat clients, leads and collaborations. It is important to us that we represent the idea of specializing, optimizing and enjoying what you love most is important for our health and success. Which is seen through our work and dedication to our agents, their clients and the industry as a whole.
Through my own journey, my closeness to the people of real estate and growing a six figure business I began coaching and mentoring organically. Feeling the passion and seeing the results, I decided to get certified as a life coach, courses in addiction and trauma courses as well as working with different healers and coaches to connect with myself as well as learning to hold space for others, asking powerful questions to open blockages and provide lifelong tools to lead you towards the success you see for yourself. I have developed a 7 week one on one program for women in real estate for motivated women entrepreneurs who are motivated to dive deep to get to that big vision.
It was not easy to get to where I am today. With a growth mindset I am able to focus more on my future success and goals with action, self love and confidence that I will get through and evolve. Part of this is staying in our lane of responsibility, awareness around what we can control and acceptance that where we are now is perfect and a great starting point. Writing about your “Why”, the reason(s) behind why you are trying something. It is a great way to have a full picture of your values and what you see for yourself. Then, whenever you feel lost, down, not enough, you can look back to your “Why” to reflect and get back your momentum. Have grace with yourself, we are all human and life is uncertain, however we mustn’t use this as a reason to remain stuck. Either way you are exuding energy. Remaining stagnant when that doesn’t align with how you see yourself takes up a lot of energy and can feel like your life is draining away. If we can turn the energy around fear and worry into curiosity and wonder then we will receive more positive outcomes and feel fulfilled not tapped out.
My story is certainly part of my brand. Through my work and telling my story I hope to increase women’s entrepreneurship and financial independence as well as help others build sustainable mindsets and self-love. A goal of mine that I am currently working on is interviewing people with stories that we don’t see enough of and create a better connection to each other and our human experience.
Helping the real estate industry become a better resource for buyers and sellers is very important to me. Learning from those who specialize is what “it takes a village” is all about. We all bring unique talents to the world, unfortunately we have a lot of external and societal illusions that we have to strip from our core identity so we can truly be the person we are and accept others for who they truly are, working together to create. Together we can heal and I want my story, experience and healing journey to empower others searching for reasons and solutions to spread throughout the community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Each part of Colorado offers its own amazing activities and places to go. I have spent the majority of my years in Colorado in the high country so we will go with Grand County! If they are visiting in the summer, we would grab some coffee and burritos, to go, at Simple Coffee in Granby. This wife and husband owned shop offers a friendly atmosphere with homemade breakfast burritos and seasonal coffee flavors. We would then take a drive to Lake Granby to kayak. This huge lake is surrounded by breathtaking views of the mountains and plenty of room to find a quiet spot to launch your kayak. Then we will head to the town of Grand Lake which is lined with family owned shops and restaurants. You can grab a quick bit or ice cream cone from Miyauchi’s Snack Bar and sit down by the lake. It can be one of the most peaceful places to just relax and take in the majestic views.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Having an incredible support system is crucial to achieving the goals you are looking to achieve in life. Having people who unconditionally support you and want to see you succeed, those are the people you want to surround yourself with. They can provide space for you, confidence boosters, advice (if requested), unique perspectives and talents, and a confidant or tribe you feel safe with.
That being said, I had to heal, practice, represent my truth and values to attract these people. Reaching out to those when I needed help. Expanding my mind and network, setting boundaries, and putting myself out there. Sometimes we have to build our support system and that’s ok, by doing the work for you first, finding your tribe will feel much more organic.
My husband, Travis, is my guy, partner for life and my absolute biggest supporter so I always have to credit him. The incredible team at TCCREATED are helping bring my vision to life. The clients I have worked with, especially from the start, have always appreciated what I was doing. My previous life coach and now good friend, Mckenzie Raymond and my sisters, Hannah and Cara Armstrong have always been there when I’ve needed a good girlfriend, infinitely valuable.
If you are looking to build a support team, start reaching out to people doing what you want to do, you would be surprised how many people love to collaborate and connect. Find a mentor or coach that can help clear blockages you have around creating healthy relationships. Explore more places that hold events for things that interest you. Have some faith in yourself and give it a go, trust me, if you haven’t found them already, your people are out there it just takes some perfect timing and some inner peace.
