We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Guenther and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I take what would be a risk and find ways to turn them into absolutes. Starting my own business is a risk but I didn’t go into it blind. I got the education and training I needed, I researched the success of the industry and didn’t get in too deep with things that didn’t make me a profit. There will always be a risk factor in life-changing decisions, that’s why you should use all the tools around you to put the odds in your favor.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’m in the business of helping people feel better about themselves. I want every one of my permanent makeup and lash clients to wake up and say “dang I look good” or “I’m so happy I saw her, now I have more time in the day to do the important things”. I really love what I do and I think that makes a big difference in the work I put out. It wasn’t easy to get where I am today. I had to make some hard decisions, lean on a lot of people, and swallow my pride a time or two. The esthetics industry is ever changing and if you want to make it to the top you can’t ever stop learning, growing, and asking for help. My education took top priority when I started in this industry, and to this day I take advanced classes to better my skills. I’m not a “jack of all trades” I’m an expert in permanent makeup and skincare.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in Eaton, CO and for a small town there is a lot to do. For starters, we have a great local brewery called Sheaf and Kettle that has great craft beer, and awesome food trucks year-round. There is the cutest boutique in the Grit and Grace Salon that has the best accessories. We also have a number of spas to treat yourself and movie nights in the town square. Then if we’re down for a short drive to Fort Collins the downtown area has all the shopping and entertainment you can ask for. I personally love the store Curiosities and Kansas City Kitty. The last thing I would fit into their trip would be a day at one of northern Colorado’s lakes or reservoirs. It gets hot in the summer and this is a great way to cool off.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and close friends played a very big part in helping me become successful. Whether they gave my name out to potential clients, came in themselves, or physically helped me put my business together they all made it happen. They are my support group and I couldn’t have asked for a better one.
