Meet Phillip Heep | Real estate agent and also certified home inspector and mortgage proficient

We had the good fortune of connecting with Phillip Heep and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Phillip, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Immediately after graduating college from the University of Colorado in Boulder, I went into a couple corporate jobs. The experiences we’re beneficial and taught me marketing skills in the industrial and retail arena. These were good companies, however, I always felt the need for independence and control of my own destiny. After buying and selling my first couple houses, I learned that I had an affinity for Real Estate and decided to go that direction, and combining other aspects of the industry in my life and work.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I have been a licensed realtor since 1997 with a short stent in high-end insurance appraisal. While I continued to be a realtor and move across state. I started my own company just this past year. I also am a certified home inspector and started doing that in 2011. My background includes some construction and house flips years ago. Home inspection was an easy fit for me. In the past, I have also obtained my appraisal license and mortgage broker license. I’m currently in the process of redoing the mortgage broker one. So I’ve got the major subjects of real estate covered for my clients. I plan to roll out some new types of marketing for buyers in this changing Real Estate business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
That’s easy. I would simply jump in the car and take off West. Decide where we’re going while we are on the way, as I give them the options all over this beautiful state of Colorado. Hot springs on either north or south end of the state are fantastic. Camping in the middle. Views and four-wheel drives in the west. I wouldn’t say “welcome to town here is what we’re doing.” We would play that by ear and cater to the things that interest my friend. It’s absolutely impossible not to find interesting people and have a good time in this incredible place.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I will answer this with two parts. There is not a single individual that I knew in these industries that contributed to my choices. My mother was a strong believer in the fact that I should be self-employed. Which leads to the second shout out that I can give. That shout out goes to corporate lifers and the people at some of these companies that made me realize my life needs to be different than theirs. The inflexibility of corporate structure stifles the independent mind.
