We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Gutierrez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, how do you think about risk?
Taking risks has been something that didn’t happen for me. I have always stayed safe with life decisions. The risk of others judgment scared me. The risk that someone might not buy my products are things that held me back. But that risk was something I had to take. I was always taught to be seen but not heard. To not bring attention to myself. Even though being unique is an amazing trait to have, I still had a fear of being different and judged. This was a risk for me.

Now that I have taken the risk of starting my own business and sharing energy works with others I no longer view it as a risk. It is a gift that I must share with others. Self-sabotage was a big contributor to my self-doubt and fears. Making spiritual tools and offering energy work has brought joy to my life. People give me great feedback on my products and it encourages me to continue creating. Providing energy work for others has opened up my heart on many different levels. Taking risks is no longer a fear.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I provide limpias/cleansing and make spiritual tools. I have been offering limpias/cleansing and selling products in shops since 2021. A limpia is a spiritual cleansing that helps purge the mind and body of any negative energy. The energy that no longer resonates and is ready to be released. I use smoke, feathers, eggs and other tools to assist in the process. I focus on getting energy blocks removed.

I am most proud of my Feeling Jars. Feeling Jars are jars filled with stones and herbs for set intentions. Feeling Jars assist with anxiety, sleep, addiction and other intentions depending on the jar you choose. I currently have 10 different Feeling Jars available for sale on my website and 4 different holistic shops. I also make Protection Bells, River Glass Hearts, Evil Eye Anklets, Travel Cleansing Kits and Suncatchers.

I am excited to continue to grow my business. Embracing my growth and being thankful for all the love and support. Since starting my business in 2021, I have learned so much and continue to learn. The beginning was more of a challenge because starting a business was new to me. I overcame the challenges with the support of clients/customers. Positive reviews and sales push me to continue to create and grow my business.

Balanced Butterfly was created to share balance with others. Intentions, positive energy and lots of love and light from an assistance perspective. I provide the spiritual tools and you are the magic. Helping others find space for growth and healing on their journey makes my heart happy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots in Colorado are in the mountains away from the city. One of my favorite Colorado towns is Estes Park/Rocky Mountain National Park. Rocky Mountain National Park has so many beautiful scenic views and, in my book, a must visit. My favorite time to go is during fall. All the leaves are changing and it’s magical. In town there are many shops and restaurants to enjoy. Boss burgers and gyros is a family favorite.

Another favorite town of mine is Morrison. A early morning hike near O’Fallon park and a visit to Red Rocks with a final stop at the Moo eatery for some yummy food and ice-cream. Indian hot springs in Idaho Springs can also be a fun day trip. Visiting Downtown Denver is fun with many shops and restaurants down the 16th street mall. I absolutely love being a native to Colorado.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So many events or people have contributed to who I am today. I could thank so many but I would say one woman stands out. Her book took me to another level. “Women who run with wolves” by Clarissa Estes PhD was given to me to read many years ago by a good friend. I felt the stories in my soul and it pushed me to want to learn more about myself and step into my power.

Funny thing is I actually met Clarissa and didn’t even know it until the moment had passed. At the DU Pow wow this past summer (2023) an elder was looking at my products. I noticed her because she had on a long dress and a red shawl over her shoulder and she carried herself very gracefully. She grazed my table and moved on. A short time later she was at my table again. She introduced herself to me but I only heard her last name “Estes Ph.D” she spoke very softly and the drum circle overpowered the room. She then asked if she could sit and talk with me. I said of course and grabbed her a chair.

She started by telling me she liked my products and that I needed to continue making them. That my products are unique and different from the other vendors. Our conversation continued for a while before she mentioned a book she wanted me and my mom to read. “Women who glow in the dark “she wrote the introduction. I told her that I have read the book and was excited to pass it along to my mom.

When I got home, I grabbed the book and I realized who I was talking to, the author of the intro to “Women who glow in in the dark” is also the author of “Women who run with wolves”. This was a full circle moment for me. I had met one of my mentors and I didn’t even realize it. She was a breath of fresh air and I was so very thankful for her praise and encouragement to continue my work. I wish I could thank her again for her kind words and support. Maybe one day our paths will cross again.
