We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Sessions and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, what do you attribute your success to?
Being able to offer unique handmade, customized items is a tangible representation of how we strive to create personal, meaningful, impactful relationships. That is where our true success comes from, being able to form personal connections with individuals whether it be the local who is a frequent visitor, the traveler, or the creators and makers we have the opportunity to cross paths with either for business or for growth.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Magical Scraps Boutique and Studio is one of the most unique stores on Main Street in Breckenridge, Colorado because most of our items are handmade. We have a simple studio in the back where we are able to design our own unique designs and make them come to life all in one day. We sew, we design and we create everything from baby bibs and blankets to women’s belts and headbands. We have the ability to make custom items and have a vision to expand our creative designs to small leather goods, headbands and hair ties.
With every new challenge we face it is met with more opportunity for growth, So, we take challenges in stride and use them to learn and grow. One of the biggest lessons in life that I have learned and try to always remember is that every challenge or obstacle that life can hand us will always pass. Nothing will last forever, not even our troubles. When we look at them as opportunities for growth and accept the life lesions that come with them it makes everything more manageable.
I want the world to know that Magical Scraps is not just a boutique, it holds space for creatives to create, for people to connect and to offer genuine friendship to all the people who enter the door. Connecting and giving back are at the core of who we are and what we love about this platform and the opportunity it brings. We understand that this opportunity wasn’t given to us in vain. We are here to grow our community and lift others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When family or friends come into town we love to take them to Red Rocks amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado for either a show or hike. Rita’s on Main Street in Breck has the best tacos and margaritas. The Frisco Adventure Park is fun for all ages and all skill levels for Nordic skiing in the winter. So, we love to take guest there for to cross country skiing or snow tubing down the hills. Hoosier Pass is also something that we love to share with visitors. The views, the hikes and nature is something that we believe is a must see. We also love the summer markets in Vail and the Go Pro event they do.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Where I am now is such a reflection of the journey my life has been. I came from humble beginnings and have been blessed with some of the hardest working strong individuals to help pave the way for my success. There are a couple of individuals that I can name that stand out from that journey. The first is Nicki Wenz, co-founder at Zandi K salon in Denver and renowned makeup artist for Aveda. She has been a long time mentor to me and an example of a strong and graceful woman who strives for growth in all aspects of her life regardless of any challenges presented.
The other is Jill Hatch who was the founder and owner of Grassroots salon in Utah and also the founder and driving force of the successful online brand Sand & Charcoal. She modeled the true meaning of grit and determination. Jill taught me the ins and outs of a small business and lead me to discover the confidence to become a small business owner myself.
