We had the good fortune of connecting with Joan Cabarrus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Before I explain my thought process behind starting my own business, here is a brief background explaining how the thought process has started. Ever since I was young, I always had a feeling that I am suppose to be doing something great for the humanity. I did not know what is was and I did not know how. I have taken the path of working in the medical field as a registered nurse for 12 years. On my free time, I was always creating and making artworks with my hands, I gravitate towards creativity and being innovative. Anything that involves creating out of recycled materials or repurposing items comes natural and fulfilling to me. One day, I was encouraged to explore new materials, new art mediums, and new resources by a loved one. It was all for fun. Then I realized that the results of my work from these were touching more and more people’s lives. Whether they feel inspired by them, or they needed them for emotional healing purposes. Then I found my passion and purpose. My path in life is to cultivate resourcefulness by teaching art, creating art, entertainment and help people heal from grief as an artist. The business idea started after a deep contemplation. I told myself that I had to make this a legitimate business if I want to keep doing this long term for the humanity. I have to be able to sustain doing this and still have a comfortable life. Even though it was challenging to start a business, I was always curious to figure out how to do business the right way from figuring out the sales tax, designing my logo and branding, marketing ideas, product ideas, and also learning the social media. All in all, my thought process started with a vision and this vision is to help the humanity by inspiring, teaching, and empowering using my creativity. Then this vision became a reality when I started following my intuition 100% of the time to do the things my own way. My vision is to create a legacy that will help many people and this gave me the tremendous patience to accomplish my short term goals and long term goals for it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I teach art/sculpting to cultivate resourcefulness, creativity, courage and time management. I recognized that many people are afraid to start something new. I create art/sculptures to help people heal from pet loss and also encourage people to be more compassionate towards animal. What sets me apart from others is that I love to share my knowledge and talent by writing and publishing books and creating video contents. I also created an imaginative world of animals along with its companion e-commerce and a YouTube sculpting show to encourage anyone who have not attempted this craft a try. I am very proud to have a patience, strategic thinking planning capabilities, and intuition that guides me to keep going. I do not practice instant gratification and this helped me control my urges to go against what the majority are doing. This has helped me accomplished a lot within two years of my business journey. I learned to be humble and maintain that humility all throughout the time. To have an open-mind to listen and listen to other people’s thoughts and advice but by the end of the day, be very hyper focused on my vision , apply what’s helpful and necessary and eliminate what’s not useful and a waste of time. I want people to know that I am here starting my journey to lead, inspire, and empower people to be courageous, to think practically, and develop confidence while using their own voice and their own path to live a happy life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As what we did for our families during our wedding trip, I will do the same for my bestfriend. I will take my bestfriend to hike with me at the Hanging Lake Park then take her to the hot springs (Glenwood Hot Springs), eat at a good restaurant nearby, and take our pictures showing where we are. I find it exciting to visit the museums, art exhibits, walk around downtown, and also see the nature.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my husband. His support and encouragement lead me to figure out my true passion in life that lead me to more confidence and fulfill my purpose in this world. A lot of my inspiration comes from many people, many situations, many things, and many dreams. It is hard to give importance to only one person.
