We had the good fortune of connecting with Joanna Azua and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joanna, what is the most important factor behind your success?
An important factor behind my success is keeping it simple by remaining true to myself. My life experiences have guided me along the way and have helped me to always just be me, whole-heartedly. It has led me to create an environment of care to all those that come into my life. Having a foundation of people that encourage my passion to want to support my community in their wellness journey makes it easy to be true to myself in a world of constant change. Growth and success relies on staying grounded and confident in my abilities to do what I know and know what I do. Simple and true, is my success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As a military spouse, every move, deployment/TDYs and overseas assignment made it somewhat difficult and frustrating to find steady employment. I realized that I needed something that was mobile. This is where my journey into massage therapy began. I’ve always been one to want to support people in wellness and massage therapy was an opportunity to provide that support. Business-wise, I have had some wonderful mentors and talented friends in the same business to confide in and learn from. Along the way I have learned that not everything will go according to plan, adapting to change is not always easy, and practicing self-care is very important. I am a humble, down to earth, and empathetic person and creating a peaceful, healing and welcoming environment is what I strive for. When choosing what services we offer at MPM&ST we consider experiences, continuing education and the diversity of our clients. There is always going to be something new to offer in this business and I believe that keeping it simple and steadily introducing new services is what works for us. Mountain Peak Massage & Stretch Therapy is committed to building strong relationships and supporting the health and wellness of our community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my best friend to the Air Force Academy, on a nice hike at Helen Hunt Falls and the Painted Mines. We would share food and spirits at our local restaurants/breweries. Spend an afternoon strolling downtown and shopping at some cute local boutique shops. Of course her visit would include a nice relaxing massage at Mountain Peak Massage & Stretch Therapy.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Along with the continuous support of my closest allies I call family, I’d like to extend appreciation to my contract CNMT/LMT. She has stuck with me through these unusual times. She is trustworthy and full of knowledge. I am lucky to have her on my side. We learn together and have the same passion to help our clients feel better; body, mind and spirit. Also our clients: If they are not true testaments to the success of my business I don’t know what is. You know those words, “in sickness and in health?” Well those are not just in marriage vows… After an 8 month leave of absence due to an injury resulting in an emergency surgery and through COVID shut downs they are still with me! I am grateful for each of them. They are my success.
