We had the good fortune of connecting with Jodi Tiahrt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jodi, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started my first business when I was 12. I started a gymnastics/tumbling program in my hometown. I grew up in a small town of 1200 people in South Dakota. Unfortunately we didn’t have anything like this for young children to participate in, so I used my skills and talent to coach others. Since then, I have started several other businesses including creating 15 flavors of protein bars that was nationally distributed and now currently owning a health coaching and body sculpting business. I’ve always had a entrepreneur mindset with the goal of providing a service to others to help them improve their life/lifestyle in a natural, holistic way.
What should our readers know about your business?
I currently own a holistic health coaching and body sculpting business. I combine my 20 plus years of personal training/nutritional consulting with body sculpting to help clients get their dream body. I also created my own body sculpting certification program that combines learning my techniques in Body sculpting with a nutrition program. Teaching my clients about the body and foods to eat is key to helping others achieve their dream body.
It’s never easy starting a business. My best piece of advice is, to keep going. Learn as much as you possible can about your craft and practice it everyday. There will always be challenges in life and business. We all face challenges, and it’s important to realize that. It makes it easier to navigate through these challenges if you have a mentor or support team. We all need advice or help sometime in life, so never be afraid to ask when you need it.
I’ve had my share of failures in life as well. I will never have everything figured out but I will keep learning and trying and growing. Never give up on a dream because of a few bumps in the road.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take them to see a Cirque Du Soleil show. Living in Las Vegas, the shows on the strip are the best part in my eyes. Whenever friends or family come to town, this is definitely something I recommend. Las Vegas is also known to have some of the best food, even though I am not really a foodie, I love going to Hanks at Green valley Ranch Casino and I love Sushi for a local restaurant.
Las Vegas also has some really beautiful outside scenery to check out as well. The Grand Canyon and Red Rock are definitely a must see.
And for some really good people watching, check out Freemont Street Experience. Your eyes will never get bored with the sights and scenery of downtown Las Vegas.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Number 1, would be my parents. Teaching me how to work hard, set goals, and when you fail you try harder. They taught me that you only get where you want in life, is by hard work. Nothing is handed to you.
My spiritual healer, Chandra Huntington has definitely helped to transform my mindset. Teaching me how to overcome life obstacles and navigate through anything life throws at you. Without these skills I wouldn’t be able to achieve as much as I have.
And a huge thank you to my fiancé, Neal Hyman. He has constantly supported me in all my endeavors, challenges, ups and downs and just being by my side.
I also have to thank all the photographers (Luis Rodriguez, Ryan Dwyer, Arthur St John, Steven Bagley, Mikael Rich) who have helped me land large publications like FHM, Maxim and Playboy. Believing in me and pushing me out there has definitely helped my career and business expand.
