We had the good fortune of connecting with Joe Dempsey and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Joe, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind our success is our unwavering commitment to excellence in every aspect of what we do. We ensure there is quality behind every project by holding ourselves to high standards from start to finish. Part of this is ensuring our team is dedicated to continuous learning, staying up to date with the latest techniques, materials, and industry developments to deliver the best possible results. Just as important is our attention to detail, because we know that it’s the little things that make a big difference. This combination of quality, education, and precision is what drives our business forward and earns the trust of our clients.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Aquality Pools & Spas is a family owned custom pool and spa company serving the Colorado Front Range. We specialize in fully in house design and construction, which allows us to control quality from start to finish. What sets us apart is our deep commitment to craftsmanship, continuing education, and attention to detail. Our team holds more certifications than any other pool builder in Colorado, and we pride ourselves on building pools that are energy efficient, eco friendly, and fully automated.

The company was founded in 1985 by Joe Dempsey Sr. We would not be here without his hard work, vision, and high standards. The journey has not always been easy. We have faced challenges with Colorado’s climate, terrain, and even global supply chain issues, but we have met them by staying adaptable, focused, and committed to doing things the right way.

We want people to know that we are not just building pools. We are creating spaces for families to relax, connect, and make memories, all with the quality, integrity, and expertise that define our name.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting for a week, I would want to give them a true Colorado experience. Beautiful views, great food, local charm, and plenty of ways to relax. Here is how I would plan it:

Day 1: We would start in Boulder with a slow morning, grab coffee, and take a walk around the Pearl Street area. In the afternoon, we would drive up Flagstaff Mountain for the views, then enjoy dinner while watching the sun set behind the Flatirons.

Day 2: A scenic drive through Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park would be the highlight. We would take our time along Trail Ridge Road, stopping at overlooks and the visitor center. On the way back, we might stop in Lyons for dinner and check out the riverfront area.

Day 3: We would head into Denver to explore some local shops, markets, and art. A walk through one of the city parks, a visit to a museum, or checking out the murals would be on the list. If there is a concert at Red Rocks, that would be a great way to end the day.

Day 4: A relaxing day around Lafayette and Louisville. We could grab lunch on a patio, stop by a local brewery, and take a casual walk along a trail or open space. In the evening, we would find some live music or just hang out with good company.

Day 5: Time for tubing or relaxing by the river. We would spend the day in Golden or Boulder Creek, float a bit, or just dip our feet in the water. Later, we might take a drive up a nearby canyon and enjoy dinner.

Day 6: Pool day, of course. I would take them to the Eldorado Springs pool, a historic pool we built. It is a perfect mix of natural setting and cool history, and a great place to unwind.

Day 7: We would wrap up the week with brunch in Boulder, and maybe stop at a farmer’s market or local shop before heading home.

I feel like this kind of week shows off the Colorado lifestyle without needing to climb a mountain. Great views, fresh air, time to unwind, and a little bit of everything that makes this place special.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A huge part of our story and success belongs to Joe Dempsey Sr., the person who started it all. He laid the foundation for this business with hard work, vision, and a commitment to doing things the right way. Without him, we wouldn’t be here today. His dedication and leadership set the standard we continue to follow, and we’re proud to carry forward the legacy he began.
