We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Hutchison and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Creating what I want and being inspired by the work I do. For years I worked for local, state and national photographers, following their vision, their budgets, their motivations. The cherry on top for me was working for a national boudoir company in late 2020 who followed the same posing structure/ routine with their clients and was very robotic in it’s processes, leaving little room for personality or fun. Definitely not my style. I’ve had my own business for years but it wasn’t until six months ago that I really decided to invest in myself and push the limits on what I can do. The rewards thus far have truly been blessed.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
A big thing for me is trust and vulnerability. Since I mostly shoot woman I want them to know that they are safe, they are seen, and they are valued. Boudoir photography is so much more than a pretty picture of a half naked woman, it’s about how that woman sees themself during our session. Watching their face when I show them a glimpse of the pictures so that they can see themselves, truly see themselves, and watching as that feeling of Empowerment takes a hold of them…there’s honestly no feeling like it. That’s what drives me, what fuels me. Being apart of a moment in time when you are helping to renew someone’s love for themselves. The journey here has been a bitch. To be very honest. I started out as a wedding photographer because the money was good and I stuck with it for almost five years but all the while still trying to find my place in photography and my purpose with it. Some lost, lonely years there were as I sought my place, a lot of self-doubt and second guessing myself. I had heard about boudoir photography over the years and it wasn’t until about six months ago that I finally learned what all the hype was about. From my very first session, I was hooked. Like a drug. As someone who herself has battled with eating disorders and body dysmorphia I immediately fell in love with the self love, self acceptance message behind boudoir photography. The power within each session helps my clients see themselves but it also helps and heals me in the process of learning to love my body as well. I want anyone reading this to know that when they step into a session with me, I will hype you the hell up because we all deserve to be loved and to love in return, especially within ourselves.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some things I can’t live without, music, tacos, sangria, and wine. A list of my go-tos would be: -Tapas & Wine at Barcelona Wine Bar in Rino -Sangria, Tapas, & Paella at El Five (do you see a theme forming?) -Taco Tuesdays at Adelitas -LIVE MUSIC AT RED ROCKS- duh -Sand Dunes -Meow Museum -Sushi at Blue Sushi- you have to try the cherry bombs -Cherry Creek Reservoir -Summit County – Keystone, Breckenridge, Dillon, Frisco, and Silverthorne- also the Dillon Reservoir -Fly Fishing in Salida -Day trip to Fort Collins for their brewery tour! -Telluride Bluegrass & Brews

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t pinpoint it to any one person but rather to an entire community. Through social media sites such as Instragram I’ve found countless photographers whom have inspired me, motivated me, and pushed me to be better. As a creative, there are endless educational resources that photographers have put together to best help you grow your craft and your business. Attending workshops, watching videos on workflow, 1-on-1 mentorships, you name it, it’s available. Some of my biggest inspirations would be @chuyphotos @andrialindquist + @indiaearl On a more personal note, I’d love to shoutout my twin sister, Jessica, for being my number one hype woman, who listens to me beam with triumphs and cry with disappointments. She’s been there every step of the way on this roller coaster ride and helps to keep me grounded.
