We had the good fortune of connecting with Cameron Rowan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cameron, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued an artistic career because I knew it would bring me joy. Even though it has its ups and downs, ultimately it will bring me joy from the people I meet to the way it lets me be creative and in the flow. I had experience working in different types of fields, like construction, factory work, retail, etc. While I was working those jobs, they weren’t hitting that itch that was always there.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Sound healer, Music Teacher, and musician. I have my Masters in vocal performance from University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and my Bachelors from Viterbo University. I started private teaching by subbing for a friend after I graduated from my Masters. I loved it so much I started teaching privately more. While I was teaching, I would hone my craft as a vocalist for auditions. I moved to Colorado in the summer of 2022. Once I moved here, I started to work for a local crystal shop just to make ends meet and I wanted to learn more. I stumbled upon sound healing while I was working there and purchased a book, “Sound healing for Beginners.” As I was reading it, a lot of my training as a vocalist resonated. I knew this was something I could get into. I then took some classes to get certified in being a sound healer. I have done sound baths across Denver as well as taught How to classes so that others may learn how to use some of the tools that I use.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
When my best friend comes into town, I would take them many different places. We would go into the mountains for a hike and road trip for a day. I would take them to Boulder to eat dinner at Avanti on the top floor to get a great view of the mountains. We would take the train down to Denver for some downtown time and spend some time at the cross rivers. Also see what they want to do in Denver.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people that deserve shoutouts from my journey. My professors and teachers who had the patience with me while I was learning. My friends who kept cheering me on the sidelines. More importantly, the friends that helped me grow with new opportunities and the lessons they taught me. For my family, who always stood next to me through all of my journey! The universe that helps guide me on my path.
