Meet Jordan Scott-Benson | The Ebony Chandler

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Scott-Benson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan Scott-Benson, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work life balance haha what does that look like. My balance changes as often as life changes because my focus has to shift depending on what takes priority at the time. I often know when I am lacking balance in a certain area(s) because I start feeling lack of or overwhelmed when most times everything is on time or completed. I have a lot of things going on, along with my business atm (at the moment); most times I feel I lack balance in my business. Only because my business started off as a hobby so my mind hasn’t completely shifted into a business mindset. Lol sounds funny to say but that is the best way to explain not feeling balanced in my business. The next few months will be more dedicated to my business and brand by changing my social and community personal engagement to business engagements by still fulfilling the balance there.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I am an ex-athlete; I played 4 collegiate years and graduated from Shaw University BS of Exercise Science. I have a love for science and health which is one of the many reasons Mahogany Scents was created.

My current career is in health care as a Medical Assistant. I do have goals of furthering my career in the healthcare field more on therapy side of health as an Occupational Therapist (OT) or Exercise Physiology. Hmm, is my job easy? Well, depending on the patient(s) and patient load for the day then sure; otherwise MA requires a lot from one. We are next level to a nurse to say the least.

Being in this field I have learned many lessons. The one I can think of right now, is to remember to live in the moment and appreciate the good days.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh man there are so many places to sightsee, visit and do here in Colorado. Depends on the season. It’s Colorado!! lol. There are many events that happen all over Denver, it’s tough to choose or pinpoint certain places and things to do. But to name a few places I’d take them downtown, a Nuggets game; Or even Breckenridge, one of my favorite mountainous places to visit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to God because he told me it was time to walk in my greatness again but outside of athletics. Along with other opportunities he has opened up for me, Mahogany Scents was the first vision he showed me.

Next my family and friends because they were the first to believe in my vision with no questions. They dove right in on how they could help and support me in pursuing my vision even though I still have ways to go.

Lastly, my small yet many supporters who continue to pour into Mahogany Scents making the world aware of us!
