Meet Jose Carmona | Food Truck Operator and Event Promoter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jose Carmona and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jose, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Ever since I can remember I wanted to own my own business. I started early say around 10 years old. I would help neighbors wash their vehicles and cut their grass. I collected sports cards and comic books. I would attend the card shows and somehow would come home with amazing deals. In my opinion that is what started my negotiating skills. After a 13 year career as a bailiff in criminal court in Miami Florida I decided I had enough of the private sector and government jobs that I started my company in 2012. The rest is history.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from others is my need to want to help , honesty , and customer service. I am so proud of how I have built the event promoting services in such a small time frame. I have built this the old fashion way with bartering. Asking for free services in return for something valuable to the other business. Example. I convinced a video game trailer to come out to the food truck rallies I organize for 3 hours free of charge for me. In return I gave them a nice highlight of their company on our social media pages. They were extremely happy because every time they have been there for free they book a few parties on the spot and have gotten long time repeat customers. See what I mean bartering at it’s finest. It has not been easy one bit. Relocating a business where I can work year round to a state that the food truck industry is seasonal was definitely hard to overcome. It meant having a full time job during the off months and working 2 jobs during the food truck season to keep my full time job. I have learned along the way that if you are honest and believe in what you are doing confidence takes over and businesses will take a chance on you to help with your vision. I want to let the world know that old ways have worked for me and have gotten me this far. I have so many more plans for growth and will continue to use bartering to help small businesses succeed and continue to bring community together.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Estes park. A trip to Rocky Mountain Park. Train rides is a must. Hang out spots will include 300 suns brewery, Antojitos Del Sureste and Smokin Bros for BBQ. Burger Nomad is a must stop. A distillery trip and also take them to Sweetheart Winery. A fly fishing day is an unforgettable experience. A stop at City Star. Some cupcakes from The Cupcake Gypsies Cupcakes just to name a few.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
100 percent my wife and children without them none of this would have been possible. My wife’s support and the constant encouragement in believing in me is what got me this far.
