We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Larsen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josh, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Hunting and fishing has always been my passion. I wanted a way to reach people through outdoor adventures. We now help disabled veterans with outdoor adventures through our outreach program.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have always lived by the motto, that you are the average of the main 5 people you associate with. All of my close friends are successful. I have learned from them, watched them, and taken a bit from each person to make me who I am today. Making it big in the outdoor industry is far from easy. The skills and habits I acquired during my time in the Marine Corps has set me up for success. I’ve learned that you have to be headstrong and not take no for an answer. I believe that you should not have a plan B. Having a plan B or backup plan means you anticipate failure.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Here in western New York we have amazing fisheries. From Lake Erie to Chautauqua Lake. I would take my friend on Lake Erie to catch it’s most prizes species, walleye. Then I’d head to Lake Ontario for some salmon. I would then cook what we cought for the day and show him some tips on cooking an amazing homemade fish fry. I also live an hour from Niagara Falls so I would add that to the list to see the amazing force of nature that the falls provide.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate this to all of my staff members at Primitive Patriot Outdoors.
