We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie Riggin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julie, how do you think about risk?
I have always been a big believer in making changes in your life if you are not happy or if something is not working. I think this has always pushed me to take risks in business and believing in myself.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am an Interior Designer who specializes in high-end residential spaces for families who want to create a beautiful and functional home where their family can thrive. I am also a Army wife of 10 years which has allowed me the opportunity to work with clients from all over America and all walks of life. I have worked on projects in 11 states, and most have found me thru the relationships that I have built in our wonderful military community. It is a unique lifestyle being in a military family, and while I treasure this phase of life it does have its challenges. Moving often has been challenging while maintaining and growing a business. However, I have always had a career goal of expanding and opening a studio storefront. It has just been about finding the right time. Although, I think many of us have learned over the past 2 years is that there will never be a ‘right time’ to follow your passions. During covid, I learned that I can help even more families transform their home virtually as well as locally thru zoom and edesign services. We moved from Virginia to Colorado in 2020 and I really felt like it was finally the right time and place to make it happen!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We love going for a hike and a beer. There are so many trails we have not tried yet so we typically try a new one every time and are still making our way thru all of the Colorado Springs breweries.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A shout out to my husband for being a big supporter of my career. Being a military spouse is not easy, and to start your business over and over again with every move takes commitment and lots of effort. He has supported our family throughout all of the highs and lows and I am so grateful to him for that. My most risky business decision to date has been opening a studio storefront, and he has been on board from day 1 knowing that this is my dream. I hope I can make him proud in this as well.
