We had the good fortune of connecting with Justin Dennis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Justin, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
I consider myself a moderate risk-taker. While some might see my choices as bold, I view them as carefully calculated. Risk is often about perspective, what one person sees as a big leap, another might see as a logical step forward if it’s approached thoughtfully. Take, for instance, changing jobs or moving into a new career. For some, that might seem like a significant risk, but with the right preparation, researching the industry, learning about the company, or speaking with someone in that field, it becomes more of a well-informed decision than a gamble.
For me, reducing risk is all about preparation and knowledge. An example that comes to mind is a business-related trip I once took, a two-hour drive each way, to complete paperwork that was essential for my company to begin operations. I knew I couldn’t afford any mistakes, so I went the extra mile by double-checking my forms and even bringing extra copies, just in case. By planning for any potential issues, I minimized the chance of a wasted trip and turned what could’ve been an unproductive situation into a more controlled one. In my experience, being prepared and informed is key to managing risk effectively.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My path with EBS Freight Dynamics has been a unique journey, especially since transportation and logistics were completely new to me. Coming from co-founding an 8-figure business, I had a solid foundation in business, but I quickly realized that this industry required a whole new set of skills and knowledge. Without a CDL, I immersed myself in logistics, learning everything from compliance to operations.
To strengthen the company, I brought on two key business partners, Stetson Moore and Chase Siders. Stetson, our COO, has years of truck driving experience and an in-depth understanding of the industry’s daily demands, while Chase, our CFO, brings extensive knowledge in data analytics, helping us make data-driven decisions for growth and efficiency. This partnership has allowed me to focus on refining our operations and working to build one of the safest trucking companies in the industry.
Safety is a top priority at EBS Freight Dynamics, which is why we’ve invested in AI-powered dash cams that monitor both road and driver behavior. These systems enable us to proactively address potential safety concerns, protect our drivers, and provide peace of mind to our clients.
What sets EBS Freight Dynamics apart is our commitment to continuous improvement, reliability, and safety. This journey hasn’t been without its challenges, but I’m proud of how far we’ve come and excited about where we’re headed. EBS Freight Dynamics is more than a business, it’s a testament to resilience, teamwork, and the willingness to learn and grow.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We recently moved from the Denver metro area to Pueblo, and we absolutely love it here. If my best friend were visiting, I’d plan a mix of local adventures and classic Colorado sights. We’d start with a day at Pueblo State Park Lake, where we could rent boats or jet skis and make the most of the beautiful lake and open water. Evenings would include a visit to the Pueblo Riverwalk, where we’d enjoy the waterfront atmosphere and explore the restaurant options nearby.
For a bit of adventure, we’d spend a day at the Royal Gorge Bridge & Park, taking in the views and enjoying the park’s offerings. And, of course, we’d make a trip back to Denver on a Thursday for Brothers BBQ, those amazing beef ribs are worth the drive alone! This itinerary would give my friend a taste of Colorado’s mix of natural beauty, great food, and local charm.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to dedicate my success to my beautiful wife, Dani-Lynn, who has supported me through every step and constantly pushes me to become my best self. My 9-year-old son and 8-month-old daughter are also huge inspirations, they motivate me daily to build a life for them that I didn’t have growing up. I was raised in a trailer park by my parents, who worked hard to give my siblings and me the best life possible. Now, I strive to provide my family with even more, honoring the foundation my parents set and creating new opportunities for my kids.
